This is a great resort for families. Took our son's family there this week for their summer vacation. So much to do for kids and a few things for grownups, too, including a fantastic golf course. The grandkids loved the water park and lazy river, playground, horses, and all the other great activities. The resort is conveniently located near Austin in a beautiful part of Texas. The restaurants are good but the service is a little slow. I don't recommend this place if you are going for a romantic getaway because there are pretty much screaming kids everyone. But if you have screaming kids/grandkids of your own, you will fit right in.

Hello to you! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on TripAdvisor. We are so happy you brought your family to our neck of the woods for a getaway and time together. It is wonderful to know that you enjoyed your stay and that you spend time on the greens of Wolfdancer Golf Club. You are right - we are a popular destination among traveling families - especially during the summer months. We invite you to reconsider our resort as a romantic destination when the kids are back in school and the resort takes on a more leisurely pace. We'd like to invite you to return for another stay - whether as a couple or a family - it would be our pleasure to welcome you again.

This hotel is located in a beautiful part of the hill country. So quaint and serene. The rooms are a little small in my opinion. I think for the price the rooms could be more spacious. Having said this though you don't spend too much time in them, sleeping and showering...that's it. The hotel has a few options for mealtimes. The pool has a grill that's pretty good. I actually preferred their food to the restaurant's food. The sit down restaurant is quite yummy and it was nice to have a few meals in the a/c. The pool is good. It's small and a little cramped during peak times but it served its purpose of cooling us off. I just wish the sand from the small beach area wasn't connected to the pool. I wasn't a big fan of the grit. The lazy river was very pretty and relaxing. The s'mores at night were a tasty treat. Overall, we enjoyed this hotel and all the grounds had to offer. Be aware that this particular resort is not very close to anything. I might like to mix it up a little and try a larger resort next time.

I have traveled here twice with my family and once with just my husband. Every time our expectations have been exceeded. We have traveled to many different resorts, and this one is my family's favorite by far. The attention to detail and customer service at Hyatt Lost Pines is the best I have experienced anywhere. Every employee greeted us with a warm smile and a "hello" or "good afternoon," even the grounds people and maintenance crew. We were allowed to check in early, were offered a delicious champagne spritzer, and the receptionist smiled warmly and said "no problem" when she saw that we have 4 children. We were given a roll away bed that 2 of our children could fit in. The roll away bed was made with fine linens and was as comfortable as the regular beds in the room! The bellboy brought our luggage to us promptly and was extremely friendly. He had no problem unloading all our luggage from the cart, even the two ice chests full of drinks and meals. He even brought more ice for us. We were brought a microwave upon request, and we used it every day. The room was spotless and cleaned perfectly every day. The roll away was even made up with our kids stuffed animals neatly arranged on the pillows. The pool area is awesome. There are staff members constantly cleaning out any leaves that may fall in the lazy river, there are plenty of tubes, and the water slide has lax enough rules that it can be used by anyone. The drinks are pricey, but well made. We also enjoyed making arts and crafts, putting hair pretties on a pony, riding bikes, and making s'mores. One day while we were there, the housekeeper left a bottle of bathroom cleaner in the room. I let the manager know and asked for them to get it before the kids got back in the room. When we got back from the pool, the cleaner was gone and the manager called us to personally apologize for the cleaner being left in the room and offered us a 2 pm checkout. We couldn't believe that level of service! We certainly didn't expect even an apology. My husband and I can't wait to go back at Christmas time without the kids. It is less crowded then, and the main pool and hot tubs are heated to allow for a unique winter vacation. This will definitely be a frequent vacation spot each summer for my family as well!

We went here for a getaway over Father's Day and it was a LOVELY break over only a Saturday and Sunday. They let us check in early in the morning - and, even if our room hadn't been ready, they said we could use the pools. We went to the adult pool where we were well cared-for with waiters always at hand. The lazy river was decadent - relaxing even though there were kids about. The restaurants were pretty average for any hotel resort, but the BBQ was unique. The quality of the BBQ was very good - service was strangely slow, but the price was amazingly low! Bars are plentiful and free of families. The staff was VERY friendly and attentive. First thing in the morning on Sunday, we borrowed bikes and tooled around - it was pretty picturesque. The resort was typical Hyatt quality - very reliable and perfectly maintained.

One of my favorite resorts in Texas. The grounds are beautifully pristine with a butterfly garden and nature trails throughout, the resort itself is relaxed and sophisticated. One nice thing is how spread out the property is, so even in high busy season, it doesn't feel crowded. Plenty to do for all ages. Caution to tennis players: they only have two courts, and don't allow you to reserve them. Also good to know is the fine dining restaurant on site - Stories - has sketchy hours. I've stayed at the resort three times and have missed the opportunity to dine there during each visit. The spa is lovely with a private pool, but don't have beverages delivered from other on-property restaurants; it's expensive and the service, though, friendly and professional, is slow. They have wine and champagne on location. The entire experience at Lost Pines is one of relaxed sophistication. Enjoy perusing Texas music and author memorabilia, and hiking the McKinney nature reserves.

Room Tip: One room on each floor is a mini suite with huge spa-like bathroom and separate closet/vanity area.

This is the 3rd summer for our family of 4 to go to Hyatt Lost Pines. We will be back next summer. We have used this as a "close to home mini-vacation". The hotel, pool area, and activities (crafts, movies, etc) are all very family friendly. We enjoy it immensely. The hotel resort fees, taxes, etc all definitely run the bill up, but this is well addressed by the hotel reservation system as you book and nothing is hidden. The dining options are a bit pricey, so we typically have cold cereal for breakfast in our room, sandwiches/picnic lunch, and then head into Bastrop for an evening dining option. The Fire Wheel restaurant is pricey and doesn't really have many options. It seems to be more geared toward dinner for couples. We did miss the tye dye T-shirts, face painting, train rides that we had experienced before. Not sure why they stopped doing these, but you will still have a great time!

Hi there! Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with other travelers! We are delighted to know that you immensely enjoy your close-to-home, but far-out escapes to our resort. Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us. We are equally appreciative about your candid feedback regarding the variety of options at Firewheel and the price of meals at our resort. Please know that we will share that with our food and beverage team for their evaluation and thoughtful consideration. We have also shared with our recreation team your words about tie-dye t-shirts and train rides. Thank you for that feedback. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for another mini-vacation very soon!

We took our kids here over father's day weekend and had so much fun we went back the following weekend. The food is expensive, but tasty. The pools are amazing! Our room was spotlessly clean. I love that! We are going back on Sunday...feels like you are far away..even if you are only 30 mins from home! Our teenagers did archery while we were there. It was so much fun that they asked to did it again this stay! The instructor was kind and we were not concerned over safety once!
