Nice looking hotel BUT, we had to try 3 rooms before we found one with the beds made up. (I don't know if the rooms were occupied.) The side door does not lock. We told them but it wasn't fixed. The drink machine in the lobby did not work and no cookies on Saturday. Two of the lights in the room were not working but the worst item was the sprinkler head that shot high pressure water on the window starting at 6 a.m. I thought a train was coming thru the room! On the positive side the breakfast was good and most of the incompetent staff was friendly. The rooms are large and the property looks clean but I am not going back.

We were visiting Texas A&M for an apologetics conference and arrived late, all the other hotels near the university were booked and Quality Inn was the only place that could accommodate us on short notice. The front desk was friendly and helpful. The rooms do have a musky smell to them and the breakfast was so so. Overall property was kept up and clean would stay again.

I stay at a lot of this type hotel, so most of what I experienced was not important - breakfast bar, in room offerings, etc. I was surprised by the size of the room - way bigger room and bathroom than usual. We stayed on the first floor and found the room to be quiet and comfortable.

Room Tip: Just off the lobby are some good rooms.

This property is conveniently located and fairly close to A&M campus. The rooms are spacious and from the outside it looks clean
Once you walk inside the lobby you notice a terrible smell of what seems like bleach or other agent designed to mask perhaps a more offending smell. The hallways smell even stronger. The rooms smell less powerful but still disgusting. I only stayed one night and kept wondering if they were trying to destroy mold or neutralize the smell of decaying flesh. Given the strength of this odor I suspect it is going to be present for a very long time. I would strongly advise against staying in this property.

My parents and family stayed at this older hotel and found it to be satisfactory. The front desk was disorganized as my parents were there at 1:30 waiting to check in and were ignored as other people were checked in ahead of them at 3 pm. They were not allowed to their room until 4 pm. The hotel was short staffed and their wasn't much concern for doing anything about that.
Additionally, it was a night of a huge storm and the water entered one of our rooms. The main front doors stayed open and water poured into the front lobby. Eventually, the lights went out and were eventually restored by the about 6 a.m. I never did find out if there was a person who was available overnight. I could not locate anyone during the night.

The breakfast was very good and the wifi did work.

There are two Quality Inn/Suites in the area and based on the range of reviews here, there must be confusion between the two. There is a newer one up the highway, but this one, while looking nice on the outside, has serious problems on the inside.
Good:
Spacious rooms, fridge, microwave, breakfast
Poor:
Strange odor in the lobby; filthy stained carpets in the common areas; LOUD bathroom fan, general run down feeling
There was even a police takedown right outside our window, which was a bit unnerving.

Bottom line - we won't book here again until it gets a reworking.

Room Tip: Get an upper floor to feel more secure and reduce noise.
