“Great Staff but construction mars experience”
Reviewed 11 January 2014

There is a ton of construction going on all around the hotel where the work started at around 5:30 in the morning every day. It'll be amazing if it looks like the mock ups when its done, but until they beware.

Just stayed for one night. Rooms were teeny-tiny. Bathroom was teeny-tiny. Everything very clean. From the bed, you could hear every single door close, even down the hallway. I'd hate to hear what the people in the hallway could hear from the bedrooms. We went during Christmas break, so there were no crowds. Breakfast was decent. There is construction going on around this hotel. We were returning from dinner after dark and tried to go around the back of the building. We didn't see that the concrete ended. Not the hotel's fault, but somebody moved the red cones and our truck ended up dropping 8 inches onto gravel. Luckily we have a big truck and could get ourselves back on the concrete. Next time I would look for a newer hotel with bigger rooms.

Hotel was fine, but we had issues with the AC/heat unit, which took too long to work. We also reserve a room with two queen size beds and got two full. The location was good and the kids loved the breakfast.

When I arrived at Hampton Inn there was a notice at check in that the water would be off until 1:00 o'clock that day. The water wasn't turned on until later. I noticed the loose fixtures in the bathroom; shower curtain rod and the towel hook. The next morning there was no hot water available for showering or shaving. When I returned to my room later in the day, there was hot water and the room was cleaned up but the regular coffee I used that morning was not replaced, leaving only Decaff coffee.

Although the staff was accommodating by granting late check out after graduation and arranging a complimentary ride to the graduation ceremony at Texas A&M, we will not return here. The bed was so uncomfortable I couldn't sleep--literally. I walked around the room all night and my husband gave up and stayed up at 5 a.m. The shower didn't drain so you have to stand in dirty water--which I think is gross. The non-smoking floor wreaked of cig smoke, as did our room. We requested a change of rooms, and the only room left was on the same smelly floor. If these things are important, don't stay here. We didn't eat the breakfast, but did get a cup of coffee in lobby.

The continental breakfast, the internet connection, the overall hotel were acceptable for the price; however my room smelled VERY musty. It turned out to be the window unit that was causing the room to smell this way. It was only an overnight stay and figured I could deal with the situation, in the middle of the night I turned off the window unit altogether and the smell went away some. Then the room got too hot which didn't let me sleep very well for the rest of the night. The staff was excellent, very helpful and accommodating. *** In fairness I didn't report the musty smell since I was busy with preparing for Orientation the next day. I'm sure the staff would have offered something to accommodate me.

This Hampton was very clean and had a wonderful staff! Breakfast was definitely an added bonus! The Hampton was very close to A&M, shopping and dining. It was perfect that the Hampton offered a free shuttle. The shuttle was perfect for freshman day due to not having to find parking. The shuttle drivers were very friendly and helpful for answering questions about the town, dining and apartments!
