We loved the whole deal- pizza, people, ambience. Tidy wood stacked high outside a testimony to cooking excellence. Prime view of downtown Comfort, a fun backdrop.

Very good pizza, great location and patio and crazy POOR service.

We were with friends in Comfort last weekend and had told our friends what a great experience we had on a previous visit. We decided to take our friends. So get this........

Friday night we stopped by at about 7:00 to get some pizza and enjoy sitting out on the patio to enjoy a great night. We went to the window to order and were informed that a large party had ordered and they were out of Dough. Well we were disappointed but these things happen!

The next day we came back again at about 6:30. The kitchen was clearly in the weeds and it took 20 minutes in line to place an order. Then our pizza would not be ready until 8:30!

In an earlier review the owner answered a poor review and explained the slow pace of Comfort, quality they are trying to maintain and the time it takes for the dough to raise.

I get it! But the current business model needs a revamp. You are making a lot of angry customers that will not return. We were embarrassed to have recommended Comfort Pizza to our friends. They will never return and we may not.

How about making more dough on weekends and investing in a second oven. Use one on slow days and crank up the second oven on weekends. If you can't do that, only take phone in orders on weekends and send all walk-ins away.

You have a great concept and great product but need to make some changes!

So glad you love our pizza, patio and location. We also appreciate your telling your friends what a great experience you had on a previous visit (and being a repeat customer. Comfort Pizza is getting discovered and we certainly understand how disappointing it can be to show up only to find that the day's fresh sour dough has been sold out which is why we will take reservations for dough over the phone. Simply call the restaurant (830-995-5959) letting us know how many pies you want, what time you'll arrive, and we'll make sure to reserve fresh dough for you. We appreciate your suggestion on adding a 2nd oven unfortunately adding a 2nd, 30 Ton, Custom Forno A Legna doesn't make sense at this time. Unlike all the commercially fabricated wood fired pizza ovens out there that only take an hour to two to come up to temperature...Comfort Pizza's takes 36 straight hours of fire to get it to 900 degrees. It would be environmentally insensitive of us to burn that much wood just so we could make more pizza/money on the occasional Holiday weekend (you tried to bring your friends on Easter/Passover weekend and the historic town of Comfort was full). It would be especially insensitive of us when all our fans have to do is call us and reserve dough in advance. With you loving our pizza we don't believe we deserved your 2 of 5 rating, this was neither a service nor a food issue. Occasionally being sold out of dough is simply the price of providing an authentic old world, hand tossed, old world community oven pizza experience. Thanks for taking the time to post an online review...it allows us to communicate to the Trip Advisor community that we will accept reservations for dough and that this is a good idea on any holiday or "big" weekend in the town of Comfort.

Absolutely the best pizza I have eaten Texas.
The best since I ate at Bella Nashville!
Will need to go to Comfort again soon.

You will be attracted by the colorful outdoor furniture, and bikes parked out front, but we enjoyed the conversation with the young owner as much as our ice cream and organic soda, and wished we could have stayed around longer to try his fire roasted pizza which is made from scratch. Would want to stop by there next time through to see how he is doing. Think it would be a great family place, but my wife and I enjoyed it too.

They are pretty much the only gig in town when you arrive on a Friday night. At 8:00 pm, they were out of dough. How does that happen?

Yes really!
#1- Dough is made fresh daily
#2- Comfort Pizza is a 24+ hour sour dough cold leavening (this is not... on demand, 30 minute, Subway hot proofed dough made with industrial instant yeasts)
#3- Comfort is normally a slow paced sleepy town with an occasional unscheduled influx of visitors. Holidays, special events, and great weather we forecast and plan for. Unfortunately the occasional private event like the 200+ person private hill country weddings we are not made aware of.
Thanks for your review because it also allows us to communicate to other Trip Advisor followers how to guarantee a pizza on busy nights.
In order to accommodate some of our fans who are traveling an hour or more from Austin for a pizza from our custom forno a legna we allow same day reservation of dough. We will do this any day of the week but we highly recommend that if you want pizza during the Friday or Saturday night rush that you call earlier in the day and reserve dough. Simply call us @ 830-995-5959 with the number of pizzas, the time you plan on arriving & a name/phone number. We will reserve the dough for you but will not start making your pizza until you arrive (unless of course you want them ready at a certain time).
