I've stayed twice now and have already booked my next trip! I love this place and the heart behind what they do.

"...To this house we gladly come where love and comfort find their home...the river of love is in this house" from Ken Medema's improv song recorded at the Haven in 2010

This was our second stay at the Haven. Last year was amazing - this year as impossible as it seems was even better. We planned to ride our motorcycle through the scenic hill country - but our plans were cut short by the weather - guess we needed time to just stop and rest. Cheryl, gracious innkeeper that she is, housed us in the Cottage. Wow, what a blessing! Our many thanks to Lambs Tale Leadership Care/Respite Ministry for providing the cottage for our stay.

Upon entering the cottage we were overcome with humbleness and thankfulness that God would bless us in such a way. As Ken said in his song, "the river of love is in this house". We have stayed in luxurious hotels and villas in the US and abroad but they were no more beautiful than the humble cottage because IT WAS GOD'S GIFT TO US.

The three bedroom, two bath cottage is located away from the main house and is furnished with everything you need to make your stay complely comfortable. It has a full kitchen and is air conditioned. Plus the front porch has a couple of laid back chairs and a porch swing - It was great to sit and rock and listen to the rain - absolutely what we needed.

Thanks to the Lambs Tale/Haven River Inn Leadership Care/Respite Ministry - May God bless them for providing a sanctuary of peace and comfort and for making the Haven River Inn a place for Him to impart refreshment and renewal as only He can do.

Our ladies' group has had the pleasure of retreating to Haven River on several occasions. It is a beautiful Inn on a beautiful point overlooking a prime length of the Guadalupe River. The grounds are perfectly groomed and well treed with many mature hardwoods providing much shade. Sparkling pool and gazebo provide serene relaxation. The rooms are all individually decorated and all in sync with the Victorian interior decor. They are pristeenly clean and well equipped and the bedding is not the typical hotel-type -- very comfortable. I can not say enough about the service and the employees. you will be met by a gracious lovely innkeeper who goes above and beyond to see to it that your stay is exactly as you would hope. The chef is very good and we all loved the food. Don't expect the usual continental breakfast. Oh, no. You will be served a full delicious breakfast buffet in their sunny cozy dining room which is completely lined with windows overlooking the beautiful grounds. If you want a special Hill Country experience, choose Haven River Inn. You will be eager to return again and again.

Room Tip: All the rooms have nice views but choose the 2nd floor and ask for river views.

I rate this location right up there with a trip to the New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming mountain ranges. Very relaxing and enjoyable...and if you're lucky enough to catch a light rain on the tin roof with the windows open...even better. This is an excellent place to spend 50 yr birthdays celebrations.

Thank you Haven River Inn.

Room Tip: We've stayed in the cottage and the main house. Both are exceptional.

My wife and I were overwhelmed with how relaxing, beautiful and delightful the Haven is. It truely matches both it's own name "HAVEN" and it's location "Comfort". :-) The staff treats you like the favored sons & daughters of their family and are able to be there to assist when necessary but be out of your way when you are relaxing. Perfect combo for get away. e loved it and csn not say enough good things in favor of Haven River Inn.

What a relaxing and lovely time. From the moment we arrived we felt at home and were treated like royalty. Our room was lovely and my husband and I both remarked at how comfortable the furnishings were. And breakfast was ridiculously yummy! Can you tell we loved it!

Room Tip: We were in room 5 and it has the most gorgeous cedar king-size bed --

For the second year in a row, my wife's family has stayed at this wonderful B&B just minutes from downtown Comfort, Texas during the Thanksgiving weekend. The inn is located on the banks of the Guadalupe River (not the Haven River,) and has 14 bedrooms. There is one accessible room on the ground floor, 10 rooms on the second floor, and three bedrooms on the third floor. The third floor also has a large kitchen, with full size refrigerator, range, counter/bar and dining table for 12, and a small living area with TV/DVD player and gas fireplace.

Typically this area on the third floor is a shared common area, but because the family has been coming several times a year for a few years, they let us have the third floor to ourselves. Very nice with all the kids (nine) there are one time.

They also have a wonderful detached cottage out back that has three bedrooms, two baths, laundry, kitchen and living room.

There is a swimming pool, gazebo, lilly pond, fire pit, two horseshoe pits, tree swings and benches overlooking the dam down on the river. A large bamboo grove creates a natural fence between the propert of the inn and the neighbors. There is plenty of space for the kids to play football, soccer, frisbee, badminton, or whatever else you can do outdoors.

They serve breakfast every morning and it is delicious. Everything ismade from scratch and tastes like your grandmother made it for you, assuming that you liked your grandmother's "comfort" food.

Upon request, they will sometimes prepare a special meal for a group. In our case, a traditional Thanksgiving meal of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, rolls, greenbeen cassaerole, and a wonderful chocholate pie.

We took the leftovers to the third floor refrigerator and had more that evening and the next day. It was great.

The house also has a wrap-around porch on two sides, with propane heaters and rocking chairs. There is plenty of space for the little ones to be on the porch playing, while the adults are rocking and visiting. Sitting outside on a cool evening with the heaters on is just what the doctor ordered to relax and forget about the troubles of the world.

The downstairs includes the dining tables, as well as a living room with fireplace, a reading/library space with piano, table for games or dining, and fireplace. They also have a small gift shop with local goods for sale.

If you are looking for a quiet retreat from the days headaches, this is the place to be. No big tv room, or even tvs in the bedrooms. Plenty of space to spend together as a group or find a quite corner to read alone.

Overall, this rates a five with us. I hope you too can have the same experience. Sheryl is a gracious host who will pay attention to your needs.

Room Tip: If you need more than one room, ask for the third floor and see if you can have the whole floor to y...
