“Great conference hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2012

Haven't been to Dallas in many years. Was there for a 4-day business conference. Sheraton Dallas was great: great conference space and service were standouts. Room was spacious, modern, furnishings seemed new. Lots of thought put into the business traveler for internet access and electric outlets near the desk, great TV including ability to plug in to a computer. Restaurants are pretty good, and because of the bland dining choices in the area, these were welcome.

This hotel is not well located for any kind of restaurants and the ones within the hotel are the worst I have eaten in. Terrible selection of badly put together food and not even cooked properly. They could do so much better, and its needed. If you are in this hotel with no car as you might be if on business in downtown, you need somewhere to eat, and the selection around the hotel is extremely limited, so you have to rely on the hotel.

The rooms are spacious and clean, though the servicing of the rooms was inconsistent. I stayed 12 weeks over a 4 month period, and every day things were done differently.

Staff at the desk very helpful and efficient given the number of people who stay here.

Well located for downtown locations, and all of the train lines stop right out front of the hotel.

Room Tip: Find some way of getting food or find another hotel

I was recently a guest at the Sheraton in Downtown Dallas. I chose this hotel because of the location, the pool, and because it was pet-friendly. It certainly did not disappoint. The rooms were clean enough and appeared to be fairly recently renovated. We stayed in the Center Tower which is also where the pool is located. The lounge chairs and cabanas next to the pool made it feel like I was at a tropical resort rather than Dallas! It was overall a good value.

The accomodations at the Sheraton Dallas on Olive are first class all the way. My room was exceptionally clean, and the opportunity to participate in their Green efforts (with a reward) was appreciated. Their convention facilities are well-laid-out, and the staff was fairly well organized.
Worst: Service in the hotel bar, Draft, was less than stellar--we had to wait quite some time to be served after seating ourselves, and the server that did come didn't read us well and engaged us poorly. Also, while the food was better than average for a great hotel, the prices in the restaurant were ridiculously high for the offerings. Finally, the staff setting up the conference rooms totally misjudged the size of the crowd (it's possible this was the fault of conference organizers, but I don't believe so) and it took them three days to get into the swing of having enough seating for participants.
Best: Clean, comfortable rooms; well organized registration, bell, and concierge staff, awesome conference facilities. More than 5 stars go to Alisa working in the lounge attached to the restaurant--she is the best hostess/hotel spokesperson/area tour guide I've ever had on any business trip. Fabulous.

Room Tip: Starwood members get access to nice floors and really nice rooms. All rooms are in towers equidistan...

some girlfriends and I planned a girls' night out and booked a suite. I've been to the hotel before for Margarita Charity Ball, but never stayed here. I've stayed at the Sheraton Downtown Los Angeles many times, and this one is ridiculously huge.

I had a couple of issues but nothing too huge to interrupt my stay. Check-in was a little slow. there were only 3 people at the reception desk, and a long line. Not their fault. I was looking for the pool and I asked someone who worked there that happened to be walking by me. he just pointed toward the main building and walked off. Usually I have the most pleasant experience with Starwood brand hotels, and Dallas being my home town, was no exception. just a couple of glitches, nothing major.

Free parking and free breakfast was a definite pleasant surprise!

The hotel itself is very nice. The staff was great from check-in to check-out, room was vbery nice and comfrtable. I stayed for a conference that was in the hotel and it went well. I did not eat at the hotel though, they do have one resturant and the coffee shop. The Sheraton is connected to the Marriott that has a food court which was very nice and that was where we had lunch everyday. In the evening we walked to main street and ate at the Iron Cactus one night and then Wild Salsa another night. Very good but expensive margarita's, we also walked around downtown and saw some of the parks etc. We rode on the rapid transit tram just for something to do and ended up in the west end and ate at a steak house. It appears that they are trying to reviatlize downtown Dallas but have a way to go. Good food within walking distance but if you are looking for something else to do you'll have to go by bus, taxi, tram etc.

Room Tip: Request the north tower as it has the refinished rooms. I was on the 32nd floor which was a bit hig...

Dallas downtown doesn't have much to offer in general and the Sheraton only adds to the overall misery of a Dow town bereft of anything interesting to eat or do.

Check in st the hotel is smooth and painless as you'd expect at a Sheraton.

The rooms are better than you'd expect from the age of the hotel outside, but you might find you're at the end of a long winding corridor a long way from the nearest lift if you are unlucky.

I stayed for a conference where Internet was included in the conference package - until you went to your room where the code doesn't work.

There are only two dining options. The menu is uninteresting generally and dreadful if you are vegetarian. At the conference the same vegetarian pastry parcel was served for lunch and dinner. My pick is anything with the berries in it. Coffee at breakfast consisted of one measly cup for $4

The coffee shop and frozen yoghurt are not open outside of business hours which is a real shame, since they would break up the monotony of the place.

General hotel staff are bright and friendly but check out staff were bored and could care less.

During the conference they could not get the air con right so one minute it was freezing cold and the next boiling hot.

If not for a conference, I see no reason to return.

Hi citisurfer,

Thank you for reviewing your recent stay with us as your feedback is very valuable. I apologize that your experience was not as satisfying as you were hoping it would be. Although your Internet usage was included in your convention space, it was not included as part of your guestroom. However, you are welcome to purchase Internet access in your room for $12.95 per day or utilize the complimentary throughout our lobby Link@Sheraton. Your feedback regarding our menu is helpful as we consider future adjustments to our cuisine options.

Thank you again for your review, and we hope to have you back with us for a future visit.
