“Great family location but bad traffic”
Reviewed 1 September 2012

This is located just north of Love Field so it is a great place to watch the planses land and take off. Lots of picnic areas but it is also located on Northwest Highway which is a very busy street. Need to watch the kiddos. Lots of food choices here if you don't want to pack a lunch.

“Nice Summer Time Area”
Reviewed 29 December 2011

Nice trees, lake and flowers during the summer time. Joggers and lots of airplane traffic which flies just overhead.

“Stayed nearby. Clean, safe, beautiful lake.”

Loved watching the rowers in the lake. Pretty flat running path. Great place to spend a Saturday afternoon. Fun to watch the planes take off nearby.

“Pretty lake area”
Reviewed 28 August 2011

We went on a Saturday when there was some sort of event going on as well, so it was a bit crowded. We had no problem finding a parking space or a park bench to sit on to watch the activity, both on land and on the water. The ducks were fun to watch. The reason we were there was so I could complete a photograph assignment by photographing Southwest Airline planes coming in for a landing, since their landing strip is on the southeast side of the lake. Lots of shade, lots of picnic tables and benches. We enjoyed our morning there.

“A Unique and Sureal Experience”
Reviewed 31 October 2003

Within the first 5 min. you will experience this, "surreal" effect.
It's actually quite odd and funny at the same time but that's urbanization for you. The lake is actually very large for being where it is. There are ducks, pigeons, and even cute little odders that inhabit the lake. During the day or at night it is very pleasant. There are decorative light poles every 45 feet or so that blend in nicely with all the trees around the lake. But the strangest part of all of this, is that you are literally next to an airport. Love Field Airport to be exact and all the while you can hear and see the planes fly right over you hovering just 100 to 200 feet above you just before they land.
It is quite a sight to see. Now don't let that be a negative to stay away from this giant park. It is actually the best mix of beauty and urbanization possible in the area it was placed. The city of Dallas did a tremendous job on it and every year or so, you'll see more construction on the park to make it even more grand than it already is.
It is though aprox. 3 miles around, so be prepared for an hour and a half of walking if you want to take a trip all the way around it. But your not limited to just walking like most parks, there are at any given time several bikers, roller bladers, and joggers at the park. All in all it's a wonderful little place for a first or second date because it gives you plenty of time to talk and enjoy the view. Furthermore, if you have children, it's also a great place to take them in the fall to feed the ducks.
