No matter when I have dined at Battuto, be it lunch or dinner, I have always been greeted warmly. There are many vegetarian options, which is a winner for me. The cauliflower soup is low in calories and absolutely delicious! Paired with mushroom pizza, it was a perfect lunch.

It was our first visit to Battuto and we were very impressed with the food and the service. We started out with the Burrata Cheese and Bread appetizer and thought it was very good. They told us the cauliflower soup is made without cream and is supposed to be very low in calories, and it was delicious. The Filet Mignon Pizza, Gnocchi and Bison Pasta were also excellent and highly recommended. Our waiter was very attentive and explained the menu very thoroughly. We had a great experience and will definitely be back!

If you're really an afficianado of Italian food, you might not think that Battuto Italian Kitchen is the real thing. After all, the noodles are a tad overcooked (not terribly but not exactly a true "al dente" either), but the flavors are quite good. We split a Burrata cheese with roasted garlic starter, served with a substantial amount of toasted thick Italian bread slices. The Burrata was served creatively in a jar, and while it is a bit challenging to scoop it from the soup spoon and onto your appetizer plate, it does give you control over how much cheese, garlic and toast to mix together. Eaten with a nice St. Francis merlot made for a delightful combination.

For main course, I ordered a special lamb ragu served with cavettini. The dish was flavorful and just loaded with tender lamb. For $17, this dish is a great bargain, filling and satisfying. My dinner partner ordered the Bison Ragu served, I believe, with bow tie pasta, which had a very nice flavor as well at $18. The lamb was a better value.

Wine lists by the glass is somewhat limited, but the availability of good quality wines by the glass is a plus. We also had the Franciscan Cabernet which was a perfect choice with both the pasta dishes. We skipped dessert being over full. Tea service after the meal is delightful. I highly recommend it if you enjoy tea after the meal.

Service was efficient, especially since the restaurant was only half full. We actually slowed down the ordering process in order to avoid the courses piling up on each other and insure that the main course didn't sit in the kitchen while we finished the starter course. It was a wise decision, because the pastas were delivered very promptly after our ordering, piping hot.

This restaurant almost deserves an Excellent rating, but prices on wine are a tad high, plus the slightly overcooked noodles. But the atmosphere is conducive to conversations and service is quite good.

We are always - thanks to my NJ spouse - in search of a "go-to" Italian joint. Battuto is too nice to be a joint but fun for couples and families. Creative menu and ingredients ranging from classic Italian to pork and buffalo protein worked in the dish. Lamb is a favorite for a reason and many other dishes we will return to try out. Plenty of cocktails and wine to ease into the evening with family or friends. Preston/Frankford intersection has been challenging for many businesses - there is even an out of biz sonic across the way which rarely happens. Hope this "joint" stays strong and given every table in this expansive dining room was full - we have hope. Service attentive and collaborative during our visit but our good natured waiter was attentive and not miffed when we were too full for desert.

The Italian “Bacon and Eggs” speck, quail eggs and fontina topped with an arugula salad is so good. Their other dishes are tasty also but it is this pizza that brings me back most. Quaint little place with good vibe. Prefer to sit it the bar and eat when it is just the two of us. Good little wine selection as well. I hear Sunday brunch is good but have yet to make it there.
