I love this place! Its funky, artistic, hip, and uber casual and comfy. There are great little boutiques (including Dude Sweet Chocolate which offers fantastic homemade chocolates and samples of everything they sell), wonderful interesting eateries, colorful street scenes and an ambience of art and cool. Its like an enclave of new Austin in the middle of old Dallas. You can wander around for several hours, have a bite to eat, buy some interesting objects d'art and have a wonderful and reasonably inexpensive afternoon. And the people watching is the best. But please don't tell too many people as I don't want it ruined, thanks!

This is an interesting part of Dallas. However, it is only a few blocks long. There are some good restaurants and interesting shops/boutiques in the area. It is well worth a meal and a stroll. However, the area could be done up much better and be maintained in better shape. I have been much impressed by similar areas in other cities, half the size of Dallas. Overall, certainly go take a look but no need to rush over. You won't be missing much.

Its pretty small if you just stick to the few main streets, which I recommend. Saturday is the best time to go; they have festivals sometimes which are really fun. Interesting shops to explore as well as a couple of art galleries, and a couple of good food places like Eno's and Oddfellows.

The sun poked out as we shopped in the arts district. Since we'd left Ohio with snow on the ground the day before, we were quite happy about the 50 degree temps some of the Dallas folks were complaining about! Scoped out the area as we planned where to eat. Decided to eat lunch at Oddfellows. I had a very good guac salad and my husband had the veg fajita. We had pie at the Pie Emporium....the choc pie with pretzel crust was good and key lime was very good. Enjoyed our day.

Make Shop is an essential shop in this area. I love it here there is so much to see in the area and the food is amazing. The art is from locals who talents ranges from designing clothes to portrait painting. They have classes that are awesome for this.
