The Guesthouse on Allen Street
Ranked #4 of 24 Dallas B&B and Inns
Reviewed 5 March 2010

If you are traveling to Dallas for business or pleasure or if you are searching for a romantic escape for two, reserve this guesthouse. As I entered the guest suite, I was pleasantly welcomed by soothing colors, wonderful linens, a fireplace, library and well-appointed bath area. The innkeeper spoils her guests with afternon refreshment-served in the suite or the private rose garden, and then starts the day with delicious silver-tray breakfast service. Spacious and cozy at the same time. What a find!

This is the best B&B in Dallas!!! The reviews do not lie! Over this past weekend (Oct. 3rd), my wife and I celebrated her birthday and our 3 year anniversary. As part of the celebration, we stayed at the Guesthouse on Allen St. The room and the service exceeded expectations! Mrs. Kay was amazing and so were her delicious afternoon brownies and breakfast! I would recommend the Guesthouse to anyone that wants to get away from the hustle of the city and just enjoy beautiful scenery of the rose garden/terrace, and peace and quiet! The B&B is located in the Dallas Uptown area and you will be surprised at how secluded it is among the skyscrapers and bars. It is the prefect place to step away from reality for a bit. My wife and I have decided to make it a ritual to stay there at least once a year and maybe more! Thank you so much Mrs. Kay!!!!!!

On a recent business trip to Dallas, I decided to venture away from the big downtown hotels. After searching the internet, I found this single room bed and breakfast in "Uptown". What a pleasant surprise – a hidden gem! The room is about 4 short blocks from the Uptown Trolley giving your easy access to the arts district, downtown, and the DART rail system. The room was beautifully decorated - like a picture out of Architectural Digest (the owner is an interior decorator). Equipped with a small desk with internet access, a small “kitchen-like” area with a coffee maker & refrigerator, the room is also functional. The owners who live upstairs couldn’t have been more helpful. Both are foodies and provided insiders advice regarding local restaurants. While the courtyard breakfast was rumored to be great – I was too stuffed from sampling the Dallas culinary scene the previous evening to partake. I highly recommend this place for either romantic weekend away or a weekday business trip. You will not be disappointed.

This is a jewel of a find in Dallas. A quiet escape in a very busy city! The room is in a library atmosphere, comfortable king bed, in an inviting Tuscany setting complete with a very private courtyard. The chef will tailor the breakfast to your timeframe and tastes. You won't be disappointed!

Beautifully decorated rooms, very quite even though we were in the heart of the city. The rose garden outside the room was also very beautiful. The room had a wall-full of various books making it a perfect place to hangout and relax to the soft music playing. The morning breakfast was especially delicious, from the fresh orange juice to the perfect french toast. We loved everything about the room and location. The only problem we had was finding the place in the dark but the place is right next to a tapas place so if you read this you will find it easily.
In short, highly recommended for romancing your significant other.

I booked a stay at the Guesthouse on Allen Street based on the good reviews on Tripadvisor and on the location, which seemed quite appropriate. The guesthouse is situated in a residential street (with 2 or 3 pubs and restaurants), near the historic and picturesque M trolley line and within a walking distance of the Culture & museums district (the guesthouse is only a few steps from the outstanding new Opera that’s scheduled to open by the end of 2009, a signature building by Sir Norman Foster).

The guesthouse itself is quite discreet, let’s not say invisible from the outside. Inside, it’s a modern and very tasteful property with spotless beautifully appointed rooms featuring all amenities one could need: I had the ground floor room with the fountain garden, a fireplace, plenty of books, a superb king size bed, a dressing room and bathroom with a choice of soap, shampoo, lotions, etc. It is a great value as such an accommodation could easily cost elsewhere the double of the 125USD rate.

The rates include a homemade breakfast brought to the room at the time of your convenience and Kay; the owner prepares whatever you wish. Eggs are delicious. A complimentary light snack is also offered during the afternoon.

The Guesthouse on Allen Street is definitely a state of the art address in Dallas, a place not to be missed.

I have just returned from a 5-day stay at the Guesthouse on Allen Street in Dallas. This beautiful Bed & Breakfast was beyond comparison. Relaxing in the adjacent rose garden with wine and Hors d'Oeuvres each evening was such a delight. The interior was spacious, exceedingly comfortable, and designed so exquisitely. All the amenities were there including wireless internet connection. The Uptown location along with a 1-2 minute access to Central Expressway, I-35 and I-45 made this accommodation convenient to nearby entertainment, museum and dining sites as well as other Dallas locations. The Hosts were charming, unobtrusive and accommodating. I already have booked my return stay!
