My dinner at Fearing's was the best I had in 2007, and while I could spill much ink lauding the restaurant's luxurious (and cavernous) digs in the Dallas Ritz, the food is just too good to take a backseat to ambiance. Dean has done a Madonna-esque job of reinventing himself at Fearing's. Aside from the heavenly tortilla soup, the menu at Fearing's is more nuanced and sophsticated than what we grew accustomed to at the Mansion (read: there's no lobster tacos, folks). Dean's proud of his work and you'll feel it in your wallet, but an indulgence here is well worth every penny.

“Very Good”
Reviewed 21 February 2008

I was motivated to experience Fearing's after hearing all of the hype. Reservations were made two weeks in advance and away we went on a Wednesday night. It was clear from the beginning that the lounge and restaurant is THE place to be seen in Dallas. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservations, but were not seated until nearly an hour past our reservation time. Things did improve after this...

The service was excellent, Dean Fearing was a very gracious host and the food was very good. Being a major foodie, I do not know that I would claim it as the very best in Dallas, but we did enjoy the starters, main course and desserts. I found the portions more than adequate, but a big eater may leave hungry. The wine list was very good and the staff was very helpful in selecting a wine that everyone enjoyed.

The decor is very beautiful throughout the hotel and restaurant, especially the lobby of this Ritz Carlton. Simply, amazing!

Overall, we enjoyed Fearing's. For the money, there are better restaurants in Dallas, but the decor and service made the experience an enjoyable one.

“Best new restaurant of 2007 in Dallas, or according to Esquire, the USA”
Reviewed 17 January 2008

We had dinner at Fearing’s on January 11, 2008 with our good friends. As you may know, it’s located in the Ritz-Carlton hotel, which opened last fall. All four of us ordered different items from the menu. All the food was beautifully presented and very tasty (just as it was when Dean Fearing was the chef at the Mansion on Turtle Creek). The wine list is robust. The wait service was top-notch. The restaurant décor is substantial. I understand Esquire Magazine named Fearing’s “the best new restaurant of 2007”. Certainly it’s the best new restaurant in Dallas. So, if you are traveling to Dallas and want to impress business associates, clients, or entertain family and friends, Fearing’s will do the job.
