“Quirky, but in the best possible way!”
Reviewed 10 January 2014

We decided to book this hotel after reading a bunch of reviews. It was a good call. The room was not huge, but was both comfortable and cozy. The hotel staff were wonderful -- friendly, helpful and entertaining. We had a totally great stay!

One really nice feature about this hotel is their shuttle service. It will take you anywhere within three miles and pick you up too, until 10, or 11pm (I forget which). It is free, although it is a good idea to tip the driver. It is totally useful. Although we had a car, taking the shuttle saved a bunch of time and money on parking. Also, the shuttle drivers had very good info on things to do, places to eat, etc. We were there on a Monday when most of the museums are closed. Our driver suggested the Dallas World Aquarium. It would have never have occurred to us. We took his advice and did not regret it. It was a great place to visit.

There were many nice touches about the hotel. For instance, there was a jar of orange water in the lobby. A little thing, but a very nice thing. Although breakfast was not free, as it can be in some big chain hotels (if you like free, cold, scrambled egg), it was good and reasonably priced. Although calling a normal egg and bacon an 'inspirational' was a bit of hyperbole, at best!

If I am back in Dallas again, I will have no hesitation about booking a room at the Hotel Indigo. It is a refreshing change from the usual corporate chains. The great staff make a traveller feel welcome!

Stayed at Hotel Indigo Dallas for four nights in December. Lowest rating would come on cleanliness--the room was by no means immaculate--a couple stray hairs on the bed and in the shower--a couple rips in the window curtain, a stain in the shower. The second disappoint was the noise level. THE WALLS ARE PAPER THIN. My first night there seemed to be a lot of young "party-people" on my floor and I could hear their entire conversations ALL night (yes, I'm talking to you Lindsay and Allison). I could hear bottles dropping, phone conversations, and was woken up at 3am when they returned from the bars and again at 7am--when one of the girls was locked out of the room. Awful way to wake up. The room also smelled like smoke upon check-in. I did complain to the front desk--they gave me a fruit plate and a hand-written apology note, so that was appreciated. Also, the supplied blow dryer was defective, and started smoking upon use.
On the positive side, toiletries are Aveeno--which was pretty upscale. The valet parking was efficient. My rate was roughly $100 a night, so value was decent--especially around New Years. The location is also a positive-it's about a mile (easily walkable) to American Airlines Arena. Also walkable to JFK Memorial, the Dallas Museum of Art and Klyde Warren Park.
Wish a complimentary breakfast was included.

A very good value with an excellent location. Close to tram. Close to great restaurants. Close to the Dallas museum district.
The rooms are very true to the European standard. Small, smartly furnished, wood floors, thin walls. A little freshing up could be used. Pretty clean, but not immaculate/sterile.
We found it to be charming and romantic, but we don't much care for the cookie cutter standard American vanilla hotels.

Hotel is in a great location. The staff was extremely friendly and always customer focused. I thought the hotel had a lively decor and was comfortable. I had breakfast at the hotel and it was good. I would go back to this hotel

Stayed 4 nights at the Indigo last month. My only other Indigo experience was in Shanghai which was hands down one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. I knew I couldn't expect the same standards but Dallas did come close, especially on the service side.

All employees were friendly and helpful, from the front desk to the restaurant and maintenance crew. Restaurant was reasonably priced and both my meals there were delicious. Excellent service as well.

Room setup was nice. Had a corner room that had 2 separate rooms (bedroom and living area). Nice historic building but almost time for a repaint. Its beginning to show its age and I don't mean the building, just the paint and furniture (think I read it was refurbished in 2006). Indigo should stay ahead in this department to maintain a reputation of being a boutique chain.

Location was good, within walking distance of anything downtown, plus there's a free shuttle available downtown. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone though.

Workout room was sufficient with about 5 cardio machines and some weights. I liked the location as a base for downtown sightseeing. Close to the arts district, the farmers market, JFK museum and AA arena.

Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff, breakfast cafe near lobby, free wifi, free shuttle to/from local sights.

Neutral: Location near a lot of shopping and dining. Good places to eat within 1-2 mi of hotel. However, large park across the street from hotel filled with homeless and surrounding neighborhood unsafe. In evenings during my stay, saw city police standing near park to deter crime.

Cons: Room in need of repair: paint on walls and door frames chipped and stained, desk chair broken, etc. No bath tub - stall shower only with curtain (no door) - old and chipped ceramic tile and blue/white striped curtain felt institutional. Heating unit needed cleaning - when heater was turned on, whole room smelled strongly of burning dust. Room also located a few doors down from elevators and soda vending machine - heard their racket all night.

We stayed here for 2 nights as a stopover on the way to Hawaii. We had tickets booked for the NBA at the AA centre and this hotel is a 2 minute walk from the tram stop where you can get anywhere. The room was lovely, clean and decorated beautifully. The staff were fantastic (as we found all Texans to be) location is also good, 10-15 mins walk away from the JFK memorial and the train station that takes you to Fort Worth(which is well worth a day trip to!) would definitely stay here again.
