This property is comfortable and cozy. The suite I stayed in was an apartment set-up. walked into a living room dressed with a working fireplace, to the right was clean galley kitchen with a dishwasher, a bathroom and a king bedroom with a walk-in closet. When I am in the area this will be my preference of choice especially due to the Front-Office Staff and Management. They would give you their shirt off their back, but jump hoops before they go there, LOL. Needless to say I had wonderful stay and recommend to stay there for your travel.
We contacted Hawthorn Suites and was supprised by the friendly and corporative voice on the other end of the phone. We had called other hotels before this one that was in no interest of having my business. My son was being released from the Children's hospital so we needed something close and afordable. Hawthorn Suites met all of our needs and more. The Manager Keith was wonderful, and polite. On entering, the office was inviting and John at the front desk was just as nice.
The property is set up like small apartments so you only have a few people staying close to you, making it more private and peaceful. We booked a two bedroom suite. Our room was two story with a patio and bathroom on both floors. We also had a fireplace, full kitchen, sleeper sofa, and lots of closet space. Our room was recently remodeled with new furniture, carpet, and paint as most of the rooms are. We stayed for ten days and loved everyday. No contential breakfast here, you get the real deal, a hot breakfast every morning.
The kids enjoyed it as much as the parents did. We loved it so much we recommended it to both sets of our parents to come visit for the holidays. Keith placed them in our building so we could all be close together. You will never meet a nicer crew than the crew at Hawthorn Suites in Dallas.
Yes, I will happly return to this hotel again.
Overview: Family member was having a procedure at the hospital and they had special rates here - think it was about $90 per night.
GOOD:
- Pretty close to the hospital.
- In accordance with the suite concept, the rooms were pretty large with a full kitchen (looked out of the 80s), living room w/ TV, Couch, and Desk, and bedroom, bathroom.
- Breakfast buffet was nice with pre-made omeletts, giant sausage patties, biscuits, gravy, oatmeal, etc. Nice!
BAD:
- Not a great part of town. We actually had some "working girls" in this hotel who had different men with them every morning at breakfast. Beer bottles, trash, etc was strewn about the perimeter of the property.
- Not a clean and fresh room. The carpet had stains, the bathroom was small and old, the kitchen was old, and I found old medicine cups behind the drapes. Let's just say I didn't take off my socks and kept my suitcase off the ground.
BOTTOM LINE: There are a lot of other hotels in the area, and even the hospital had rates for about $10 higher at other places. Next time, spend a little extra and get a LOT more.
