Grandpappy Point

Me and some of my family & friends stayed out at Grandpappy Point Marina cabins this past weekend and had an EXCELLENT stay! We couldn’t have asked for any better for the price of their cabins. We have stayed at other Marina’s at Lake Texoma before but they are either way too pricey or just don’t have as much to offer. The rooms were very tidy, employees extremely nice and helpful not to mention all the amenities the Marina itself has to offer. They have a wonderful water front restaurant with a gorgeous view and great food. We were able to rent boats and seadoo’s as well as book a fishing trip for the guys. We will definitely book our stay at Grandpappy’s from now on!

My fiance and I went out to Grandpappy Point and fell in love with the views, lake and the price. For the price you really cannot beat what Grandpappy was offers. Also hey allow you to find the other parts of your wedding ( dj, caterting etc) without trying to lump you in to one of those overpriced all - inclusive packages that other wedding venues do. Unfortunately somethings came up within our personal lives that caused us to have to move the wedding site. They were very understanding of the situation and after some talks they gave us our money back. So if you are considering this site I would reccommend that you go out there and check it out.

This was our first fishing trip to Lake Texcoms and we were excited! When we got there and checked in it was awful! It smelled and it was a dump! Old matresses old dirty bathroom and the trash can when you took the bag out was disgusting !!! There were no amenities ! When we made our reservation they just advice us to bring coffee well they should have tolled us to bring everything! There was no plates silverware glasses nothing!!! It would have been nice for someone to have let us know we were pretty much paying for a verbals bathroom and in that case we could have just camped outside cause it was probably clearner! Then unless you have a boat you pretty much can't fish!!!! All the dicks are private and when we asked if they can direct us to somewhere we could fish the rude lady at the front said no that she only worried about this marina!!! That she had no clue!!! She should have just saud she didn't want to help! Oh yea she dud say that dome people fish off the SMALL area beach in SHALLOW water !! Awful Awful Awful!!!!

If you arrive after 5 pm you must call security guard. There were communication issues. If you decide to go I would book the cabin that has a pavilion next door and overlooks Lake Texoma. We booked 1 bedroom small cabin which included dirty carpets, spiders, bathroom door would not shut. Dust under bed. But AC worked. Had to upgrade to 2 bedroom due to number of people that showed up. Store staff (which were very nice) rebooked us at 8 am next day. This was a nicer cabin but had central air - so temp could not be adjusted. But did have much more room, tile floors in living area but carpets in bedrooms dirty and under beds were filthy. Two towels given had personal hair, disgusting. Bring your own linens.

Hello! We decided to stay at Grandpappy Point because we wanted to try Lake Texoma for the weekend. It is one of the largest lakes in Oklahoma and we love boating, knee-boarding, wake-boarding, tubing, etc.
Grandpappy's is a really neat place, overall. The cabins are newly remodeled with tile flooring and new countertops. The one we stayed in was clean and very simple. We stayed in a duplex cabin with two bedrooms, which we shared with one other couple. We liked it alot--except for two main things. 1. There are no mirrors or nightstands in the bedroom. Just a bed. It would have been nice to know that beforehand. 2. Most of the cabins do not have their own thermostat--they work off a main system. They are preset to 74 degrees--which felt more like 68 degrees while we were there. My husband is a big guy who is almost always hot--and even he was often chilly. Bring an extra blanket or two at night.
The entire resort has nearly everything you'd need--a small restaurant with Mexican style food. It's good but kind of expensive for hanging out on the lake. There is also a night club open on Fridays and Saturdays. We heard it usually is awesome with a live band. Sadly, the band wasn't there our weekend--so you might want to call ahead. The club is out on a huge patio. It looks like it could be a blast on one of the band nights.
Lake Texoma? The water was much more rough that what we expected. We are from the Fort Gibson Lake area in OKlahoma, which is MUCH smaller. Our boat is a medium sized ski boat and could barely handle the middle of Lake Texoma. We had to find a sheltered cove for any watersports or relaxing. Almost all of the local people we talked to said it wasn't normally that rough--it was just because it was so windy.
However you should know, Lake Texoma has completely spoiled us with its beautiful sandy islands and beaches! There are several fun islands where people drive there boats up near the shore and just hang out on the sand and swim (and party). : )
I have never seen another Oklahoma lake with sandy bottoms like that. We could almost convince ourselves we were in Mexico.
Anyway, this is getting long.: ) If you're looking for a place to stay on Lake Texoma (on the Texas side), Grandpappy's is an overall good pick in our book. Let me know if you have other questions--I'll try to answer. Have fun!
