“Great Insights to Hildago and the history of the RGV”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

This is a wonderful museum filled with the history of "the Valley". Learn about the conquistadors, cowboys and much more. There are meeting rooms for very reasonable rates. We got to get some business done in the midst of a very special collections and architecture!

“Fun Museum”
Reviewed 9 April 2013

We had a fantastic time visiting the Museum of South Texas History. We spent more than two hours looking at all the exhibits. There were stations where kids could dress up in period clothing, color and participate in other activities. The short movies were very interesting, also the information on the Hidalgo pump station(also well worth a look), details of citrus production, the relationship between south Texas and Mexico and the contribution of the area to the war efforts, are just a few interesting topics in this wonderful museum. An excellent place to spend a hot afternoon.

“Great place to learn about south Texas”
Reviewed 5 March 2013

The museum takes you through time in a chronological manner starting with Pre Columbian Indians. Well thought out displays and interesting information. They also have many special events: lectures. Films and pioneer days. My personal favorites are the Day of the Dead alters and Cinco de Mayo celebration, complete with folkloric dancers. The museum is a source of interesting gifts for a wide variety of people. They have everything from books to soaps, blouses and retablos.

“Hands-on museum”
Reviewed 1 March 2013

The staff were enthusiastic and informative. There were many articles of clothing that you could dress in to feel the part of the cowboys or conquistadors. Lots of sights and sounds of early Texas.
