If you are driving to Santa Fe NM through West Texas and Eastern New Mexico, you'll find that towns are few and far between. Farwell TX, which is on the Texas-New Mexico border, is a very good place to stop for lunch, if you are there on a Thursday. The BBQ Shop serves only lunch and only on Thursdays, and they close when the barbeque sells out. The facility is basically a large white metal shed with long tables, perfectly clean, and you are assured that the food is fresh. All basic barbeque dishes are served, and you can buy "burnt ends" to take out. The BBQ Shop serves those passing through Farwell and locals, including the local Mennonite community. As you continue your drive toward Santa Fe, you will find a New Mexico tourism information center with restrooms just across the border in Clovis.
