On our return trip to East Texas we were planning to zip through Fort Stockton because of our prior experience heading West with what I consider motel overpricing in Fort Stockton. The area is not worth the cost but the Fort is today what San Francisco was during the gold rush days--in this case thanks to the "oil-gas" rush in S-S/W Texas. However, we were tired and it was late in the day so it was time to stop, Fort Stockton or not.
The top line motels/hotels were booked or had a room or too that were for smokers at $112.00 or more a pop. This motel had a couple of non-smoking for a somewhat reasonable rate of $79.00 considering the circumstances it was acceptable. Plus they provided a fair breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable but not outstanding for sure. It provided a reasonable restroom, clean with nice towels and the goodies you would find in most other motels. Around 8pm the guys from the fields starting coming in with their F250's, 450's and other of the sort trucks. I believe there were only 3 cars and the rest of the parking slots were taken up by trucks. Looking at the other motels trucks were all over the place. Most of the guys were booking the rooms by the month.
This motel is ok--in a pinch. That is, if your tired of driving.More
