We were camping on the Perdenales river near Fredericksburg, TX and wanted a break from the heat. The Bunkhouse was a great getaway. Surprisingly inexpensive, (150 a night for 2) it had everything you might need to thouroghly enjoy your experience. We had 5 (it sleeps 12) and it ran us about 300 for one night. Upon arriving we were greeted by the very friendly landowner, who calls himself Smitty. He was more than helpful getting us settled in, but our first look at the inside of the place was when the fun really started! The Bunkhouse is delightfully decorated with western trinkets and beautiful trophies mounted on the wall (ranging from bucks to buffalo to jackalopes). The furniture is mostly hand-made iron work crafted by smitty himself. He's quite talented and even made the bedframes himself out of iron scraps. The house was immaculately clean, and so were we after enjoying the two jumbo jacuzi tubs complete with water jets. Daytime entertainment is not at all lacking with a river walking distance from the front porch, and they have plans to set up giant teepees for guests to stay in on the river. There are also animals all over who are friendly as can be, kids would have a blast.
We highly reccomend The Bunkhouse!! What a find!!
