This is a good little hotel, outside of Fredericksburg. Less than 10 minutes from downtown. Very clean. Nice bathroom. Nice staff. We didn't get a chance to try the diner, but it looked cool.
One reason I liked it is its not a chain. Has its own personality. The airplane/flyers motif is good, and its right by/at the airport. We would definitely stay there again.

Location Location Location!
There is a runway running behind the hotel; not the annoying commercial jet kind of runway that ruins a good hotel, but the quaint small-time type that has little prop-plans that only fly during the day (they won't buzz your room while you're sleeping). You can sit out on the back patio and watch the planes take off and land throughout the day. There isn't a security line or a full-body scanner to deal with, so feel free to walk out and get near the airplanes, it's quite an experience to chat with some of the pilots.
The room was very clean and comfortable. Our only complaint and the difference between "Very Good" and "Excellent" was the lack of a coffee maker which is usually a make-it or break-it for me on leisure stays.
Be sure to check out the Officer's Club downstairs; very affordable drinks and live entertainment (piano while we were there). Take a walk through the halls and enjoy the memorabilia.

Usually we stay in B&B's during our trips to Fredericksburg but decided for a hotel because we booked last minute on a holiday weekend. The room was the same price as the Holiday Inn in town, but a much more relaxing experience. That brings up one good final point, this is not a kid-friendly hotel so you can enjoy a truly adult experience.

The Hanger Hotel is beautiful and at the same time very nostalgic. We flew in and enjoyed the dinner next door. The food was really good - the shakes were outstanding! The view was incredible at sunset the planes flying in were very impressive. The hotels lounge was lovely with a pianist and plenty of drinks to choose from.
Now for the room, it was large and comfy but what it did lack was the mini fridge and an updated TV with more than 6 channels. For the price we paid, I would have expected something a little bit nicer. Personally a mini fridge would have been perfect since we packed up and flew home that next morning (cold drinks for the flight would have been pleasant)
However that did not hinder our fun at this location. We maybe back one day =)

Clearly, someone has a passion for historical aviation. This place appears to be built within the shell of an old Quonset hut, but is very upscale. The rooms are beautiful, with wonderful nostalgic touches ( the phone) and art. The staff is wonderful and the public space - particularly the Officers Club lounge is a step back in time but with all of today's luxury. A terrific and unique place a short drive from downtown.

We took a quick drive up from San Antonio and spent a Wed. and Thurs. night there using the very affordable Senior weekday rate. The Officer's Club does not open until Thursday evening but was fun for a drink. The next door diner is only open certain days and hours so if you want to enjoy that, check the schedule. There is coffee and scones and canned juice in the am so if you're a big breakfast eater you need to head into town. The front desk is very helpful on where to eat. The hotel is across the main road from the #1 rated dinner location-Cabernet Grill.

The small aircraft coming and going with the view from the porch couldn't have been any better. The hotel ties in perfectly with visiting the Pacific War Museum.

Room Tip: If you are there when the Officer's Club is open and early to bed and a light sleeper you may wa...

I've been wanting to stay at this hotel for a long time, as I have an interest in the WW II time period. I was not disappointed; it met and even exceeded my expectations. The hotel is beautifully decorated, with many items dating from the 1940s, with a focus on the Pacific, even right down to the toiletries in the rooms.
The lobby staff were helpful and friendly. The coffee is located near the lobby, and is fresh all day. I especially enjoyed the orange-cranberry scones for breakfast; they were delicious and offered with fruit. My room was comfortable and quiet.
Finally, you can't mention this hotel without a nod to the airport -- got to see a C-47 land and take off while I was there. The aviation focus certainly enhanced the experience for me.
Staying here was a fun and rewarding; I certainly plan on returning again and highly recommend this to anyone visiting Fredericksburg.

Able to sit in front to hotel and see city firework display. Have stayed here many time since I can park my plane out front. Taxi to city center $7. Dinner next door had good breakfast at good price (limited hours though), have not tried lunch their. Officers club fun and drinks not overpriced (limited hours). Front desk staff friendly. Only drawback is no coffee in rooms and no exercise facility. City park on other side of airport has pool but none at hotel. Hotel does have coffee, juice, scones and fresh fruit in morning if you want something light. No children allowed so nice and quite for couples.

Room Tip: Second floor facing north if you want to watch airplanes land
