Wonderful hotel with the 1940 WWII South Pacific theme. Hotel is immaculate and has all the small touches of yesteryear decor. The Admirals Club was a nice quite place to pass time listening to local talent. You can sit out on the 2nd floor balcony and watch planes take off and land. The Airport Diner next door serves an excellent breakfast. Will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Request 2nd floor on end next to runway. You can see planes from your window.

We stayed at the Hanger Hotel several times while we visited Fredericksburg during the last 3 years we lived in Houston. The hotel is located adjacent to a county airport for small planes so you can watch the planes take off and land directly from the hotel balcony. We were also able to inspect the planes in the parking apron when they flew in from cities in Texas. You must be 21 or over to stay at the hotel so it's mainly an adult venue. There is no food service at the Hotel but the dinner located next to the hotel is open for breakfast and lunch only. The bar is great and the piano player is awesome. The Hotel is 5 minutes (by car) from Fredericksburg.

Step back in time to the 1940's with a visit to the Hangar Hotel, next to the runway at Fredericksburg, Texas. The hotel is a replica of a quonsat hut and the furnishings are replicas of the 40's down to the telephones in the rooms. When looking out the window you see palm trees and you think of the men and women who served on islands of the Pacific in WWII. The hotel was originally built for pilots and therefore there is about 50 rooms with one king bed in each, no kids under 18 as there are planes on the tarmac and kids like to climb all over things possibly injuring themselves or the planes. They have a totally delightful diner next door in the 40's motif with very good food. a Pacific ballroom for periodical dances and music by Bill Smallwood playing music from the 40's and 50's. Next door is the Lady Bird Johnson , newly redone, 18 hole golf course and just a short drive into town to see the National Museum of the Pacific War, the best I've seen. Then there's the shopping!. If you like German food I highly recommend Der Lindenbaum!! Hotel staff is so courteous, friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms to the back of the hotel have less noise from planes landing and taking off but if you are lik...

Perfect hotel for us! First, kids are not allowed so makes for a quiet relaxing stay. Second, the 1940's South Pacific furnishings and ambience are spot on. The staff is one of the friendliest and most helpful I have experienced. The room was spacious and immaculate. There is a diner next to hotel that does breakfast and lunch only, and breakfast was good. The hotel as at the municipal airport and air traffic is very light. You can sit outside on an upper landing or ground level porch and enjoy the sunset over the hills. If you are looking for a relaxing quiet place to stay this is perfect.

1940's plane / hangar motif; 1940's music & decor in the lobby; private planes parked right out front of the hotel; balcony with comfy rocking chairs all around the second floor facing the landing strip - great place to watch the sunset and landing planes.
Rooms neat and clean with 1940's decor. Only about 50 rooms. Staff is always at the front desk. The "cookie lady" bakes fresh cookies at 7:00 P.M. Continental self-serve breakfast starts early - 6:30 A.M. - 10:00 A.M. Unlike most hotels, the food items are re-stocked during the breakfast time. Enjoy a cocktail in the Officer's Club with live music and Happy Hour nibbles. Watch the planes take off and land and park in the huge hangars down from the hotel. Check out the Flight Based Operations building next to the hotel.
Across the street is a great restaurant - the Chardonnay Grill. Walk along the landing strip to see the old DC3 plane that flew missions from WWII through Viet Nam.
Very clean, quiet and cozy, with a clever plane/pilot/hangar/club feel. Close to anywhere you need to go in Fredericksburg, without being on the noisy and crowded Main street. Excellent front desk staff - friendly and informative. There is a Diner restaurant next to the hotel open for breakfast and lunch - you can't go wrong with a chocolate malt! A fun place!

Room Tip: Recommend the second floor facing the landing strip.

We stayed here over July 4th while attending the horse races. We chose it for the location, since we could walk to the race track and our friends were able to get an RV spot nearby. This is an adult-only hotel, which means it tends to draw an older and quieter crowd. The hotel decor is cute & rooms are large & clean. I loved the atmosphere of the Officers Club. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the planes. The front desk offered us free passes to the horse races. They had juice, coffee, fruit and scones set out for breakfast. The only negatives would be the prices - room rates were on the high end and my husband thought the drink prices in the Officers Club were high, too.

We stayed there to attend their USO Style Big Band Dance the July 4th weekend (Bill Smallwood's Texas Swing Orchestra was great). We loved it all. Attention to detail, including the 1940's style phones in room and other furnishings. Was fun to just sit on the hotel porch to watch the airplanes come and go. There are some old cars to look at too. Get your lunch and breakfast at the Hanger Grill which is part of the property. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that they don't have CNN or MSNBC on the cable line-up (but they do have Faux "News" which I will never watch because it is not real news). But, since there was no TV in the 1940's you can just not turn on the tv and will not miss anything. Just watch the airplanes come and go. Loved the place ; we will stay again. By the way, it is only 4 miles from town and easy to find (just head to the fair grounds and airport).
