“Good for families with kids and those who don't care about service.”
Reviewed 20 March 2010

Here's the good news -- the location is superb (very near the Nimitz Museum) and the outdoor pool area is very nice. The pool has a neat slide, and there is a large grassy area where children can play. Outside table seating is quite nice.

Now for the bad news. Service at this hotel is lousy. For starters, when I checked in to this "pet-friendly" hotel, they almost wouldn't accomodate us. Apparently they only allow pets in a few rooms, and we weren't booked in one. Fortunately, they were able to switch things around, but it was clear that they were not prepared to make any exceptions to their policy. My 89-year-old parents were with us, and their room ended up being quite a distance from ours -- AND their room was upstairs. When I asked where the elevator was, I was informed there was not one, and there were no rooms available on the lower floor. We couldn't switch our room with theirs because we had the dog! So, they struggled up and down stairs for our stay. (The staff didn't seem too concerned.) Around 9:00pm my parents' toilet stopped up, and they called the front desk. They were told to come down to the front desk to pick up a plunger! My teenage niece was with them, so she got the plunger and my father spent the next hour trying to fix the plumbing. (We didn't know anything about this until the following morning!) Breakfast was a huge disappointment; supposedly served from 6am - 9am, when we got there at 8:30 there was practically no food left, no trays, juice machine was broken, no fruit, and a surly one-woman staff. They were even out of hot water for the instant oatmeal. The seating area was way too small for the number of guests, as well.

The Inn was sold out during our visit, so it is possible that service is better and friendlier with a smaller crowd. In my opinion, however, the way to distinguish a good establishment from a mediocre one is how well they cope during busy times; the Inn did not perform well.

We stayed her with two other couples and had a great time. A perfect place to stay for a couple of nights. The pool and hot-tub area was amazing, they had a fire going in the outdoor fireplace and a nice flat screen TV. The outdoor pool area alone makes it worthwile to stay. The rooms were fine, not the greatest room I have ever stay in but you do not go to Fredericksburg to sit in your room all day. Good location, about a block from the main road. Definatly worth the price, will stay here again! They even have rooms that allow Pets so we were able to bring our dog with which is always nice.

Beautiful landscape with greenbelt that led down to creek and huge trees. Porch swing overlooking greenbelt was homey and relaxing. Lovely vines on arbors, huge rosebush, lots of native plants that were arranged in such a way that made is look lush. Kids loved heated pool and going down to the creek to find frogs! The pool area is inviting...1 heated pool, 1 other pool and hot tub; the lounch chairs are well cushioned and very comfortable; pool has covered area with flatscreen TV available where a fire is lit each night. Smores kits can be purchased at the front desk for roasting marshmallows in the fire.

The front desk went out of their way to help meet needs...needed crib and extra blanket. The maintenance guys kept the outdoors looking clean and beautiful. Housekeeping was decent, though they forgot to leave/refill extra tp twice.

Basic breakfast during the week of bagels, toast, kolaches, instant oatmeal, cereals, sometimes fruit. On weekends, scrambled eggs and sausage added. There is a soda fountain machine where you can get 'cokes' anytime of the day. During the morning, hot coffee, hot water, and juice machine available. Tables are available inside or out. The fountain in the middle of the patio provided a relaxing atmosphere.

The hotel was one block off of Main St. which made sight-seeing and shopping easier as parking along Main St. can be scarse. They had what seemed to be nice conference rooms.

We were there for 5 nights and loved it. We are ready to go back!

Stayed here 2 nights and it was wonderful. The man at the front desk was very helpful in recommending places to visit and dine. Pool area was very nice as there was a pool with waterfall, slide, jacuzzi, fireplace, big screen TV and also another volley ball pool. This was a very relaxing place! Would definately stay here again. Got this hotel for $60 on priceline. Free breakfast and 24 hour soft drinks and cookies were offered. Breakfast included scrambled eggs, sausage patties, bagles, toast, a variety of cereals, peanut butter, 3 kinds of muffins, milk, juices and soft drinks. Coffee and cookies were always available.Within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants on Main Street.

We live in Dallas and went for a 14th anniversary weekend 7/18. Never been to FBG and made reservation late. $159 was cheaper than Hampton and much better location, 1 block off main and close to action. Set up is like a motel with doors to the outside. Room was basic, but did have frig and microwave. The pool area is great. 2 pools and a hot tub, plus a covered area with flat screen and fireplace. Breakfast was decent and included. Went to FBG Brewery for dinner and beer was better than food. Went to Mamacitas next night and it was good. Silver Creek had good outdoor music and biergarten. Catholic church is beautiful and close. We hit golf balls at Lady Bird park and checked out the Hangar hotel at the airport which was cool on the obseration deck.

ALthough the room was somewhat small, and smelled kind of moldy at first, the whole experience was satisfactory. THe hotel staff were very courteos and ready to help out. The hotel is off the main street, but close enough that we can walk everywhere from there. It was awesome... Would definetely recommend it!!!

My family stayed here and the children loved the pool area. The room were pretty basic, it did have fridge and microwave. Our shower rod was coming out of the wall, after I reported it, the maintenance man was there is 5 minutes to fix it. Close to the main street only 1 block away, but close to a main road too.
