Description: Eating in a garden environment, with fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs, is unique these days. This fine restaurant is housed in a historic rock house, built in the late 1890s. Our menus are ever-changing based on seasonal inspiration - call to inquire about specials and current options. A nice wine selection, which includes local wines, compliments the cuisine. Enjoy a drink in The Bistro Bar - complete with unique fireplace and comfortable seating. At the Farm we also have Sunday Haus Cottages where you can stay and relax in a comfortable garden environment; Nature's Spa, a 5,000 square foot destination spa with multiple treatment rooms; and the Poet's Haus Gift Shop, offering garden and gift items as well as candles, lotions, soaps and much more that are formulated on-site! In addition to these things guests can enjoy our gardens where fresh ingredients are grown and used in our restaurant and much more is grown simply for your enjoyment!

My husband and I having been reading about Fredericksburg Herb Farm for years, and have purchased the Varney's books. Well we finally made it out there and we were so thrilled!
We had a wonderful lunch with a very nice waitress, Franchesca, got to ask Mr. Varney a number of questions about gardening and growing herbs, and cooking with herbs, I had the Salmon and my husband had the quiche with salad on both, and we had the rosemary orange rum cake and Becker wine...What a treat....
We then had massages with amazing therapists, Mateo and Leslie---OOOOOHHHH, so wonderful. Even though it is winter, the gardens were so spiritual and romantic at the same time.

We got back to the hustle and bustle of Houston and were so rejuvenated having spent such a wonderful time at the herb farm.

What a very special place.

The only thing we were a little dissapointed with was how little there was to shop for in the stores...not what we had expected?

We also walked out. The place had a rather off odor so perhaps it is well that we didn't eat the food.

My best gal friends and I decided it was time for a girls weekend. What a shining jewel we found at The Herb Farm! We had dinner on Friday night -- the atmosphere, the food -- everything was perfect. All of us are wives and moms so it was such a treat to be catered to in that way. We had scheduled appointments at their day spa for the next day which also included lunch -- another treat - good food after spa treatments definitely fills the soul! We decided we needed to take time for the relatively short drive from Austin to make this a regular routine. We all decided our husbands would like the cuisine, and probably even the spa, but for now, it's our secret getaway!

We have enjoyed Fredericksburg's great restaurants and quaint shops for years, and have always been impressed with the Herb Farm... until our last visit there.

We made reservations several weeks in advance for a Saturday evening anniversary celebration for a party of four.

When we arrived, the restaurant was not busy, but the hostess seemed very harried. She found our reservations and showed us to our table, where we ordered wine and appetizers. We were served a bottle of wine that we did not order, (but drank anyway as our server gave us no other option), while we waited, and waited... and waited...for the appetizers, which finally came and were delicious.

The big problem was that an hour after we finished the appetizers, we still had not been served our entrees, and the more we tried to question the host or the waiter about the delay, the less available they became. Other tables were having the same problem, and many left without getting their food, as we did also eventually... although we were charged for the incorrectly corked wine and the appetizers. We were never given an explanation as to what the delay was about, and worse still, when I emailed the Herb farm about our bad anniversary experience, we got a terse "better luck next time" email in response.

For me and my wife, there will not BE a next time. All restaurants have off nights, but to handle an off night by ignoring customers and giving no explanation or compensation is unforgiveable.

My family and I have come to this charming herb farm for years and are never dissapointed! Last night was no exception, we were seated at a beautiful spot over looking the gardens. Were served homemade breads, a cup of consume, then our appetizer of mushrooms came and later our entrees . We had a Sage Porkchop, Talapia, and Steak.

Then dessert topped off the return experience with an amazing Bitterweet Chocolate Cake with Homemade Vanilla Ice Crea.

The Lady playing the guitar was also very nice.

We could not say anything better for the herb farm, it is just a very special place!
