“Germany in Texas”
Reviewed 13 June 2011

I went to this German town in the middle of Hill County last month. It was a cold day so our winery tour and German pastries were perfect! This little town is about an hour away from Austin at you can see Germany everywhere. Bakeries, breweries, wineries, antique shops, decorations. I really like it. You just need one day to see unless you plan to relax in one of their old houses!
You can easily reach everythiing because all the interesting attractions are within the main streets of the town. Do not miss the wine tasting, Texas has some really good wines and, if you can, wash away the flavor of the wine with some German-style bread.
Great place for a weekend getaway!

“Great Art in Fredericksburg, TX”
Reviewed 12 May 2011

My wife and I just visited Fredericksburg, TX for a weekend get away. We stayed in a quaint B & B that was close to Main St which I recommend because parking on Main can be difficult. It is much easier to walk. We enjoyed several restaurants like Crossroads Steakhouse and August Es. But we were most excited to find so many art galleries! We really enjoyed the art at Whistle Pic and The Fredericksburg Art Gallery. Our favorite though was The Good Art Co.. They had the widest variety of art and the best prices. We will always cherish the painting "Texas Vineyard" by Jim Phipps we purchased. I recommend anyone visiting Fredericksburg go to The Good Art Co.

“Texas Wine in the Hill Country”
Reviewed 24 April 2011

So there we were, faced with the question, is there any good wine here in Texas? The few vineyards we had tried off the shelf in the grocery store were okay, but not really anything that truly captured our attention for very long. My Wife and I have traveled to Central and Northern California many, many times, but this year just could not put the time away to return. So, with the advice of a good friend we headed out to Fredericksburg to see if we could find some wine that we really enjoyed! No Problem finding Wineries, they are all pretty much well marked. Our first stop was dumb luck and we were at Grape Creek Winery. Fantastic group of people working there. Very knowledgeable about their product, very helpful in our decision of which wines to taste, and very reasonably priced. We joined their wine club. There were a few clunkers next up, who shall remain un-known, then came Chisholm Trail! Fantastic! Everyone along the way was super nice. We stayed at the Sunday House, and again, Great people, well priced and the Staff was really nice and helpful! On the way home to Austin, we stopped by to visit Flat Creek. Left with 18 bottles. Texas Wine is on the rise, try some.

“Fredericksburg trip”
Reviewed 9 April 2011

We just returned from Fredericksburg and had an amazing time. Based on our suggestions, we arrived on Thursday and left Saturday morning. I was told how busy the area gets on the weekend and it was packed as we left town on Sat. We visited 2 wineries on the way into town-Texas Hills Vineyards and William Chris. Both were great and William Chris was very unique--in an old farmhouse with a LOT of history. We then arrived at our rental-"Ooh La La" and it was PERFECT!!! Our host Laura greeted us with Mimosa's and was a wonderful host. We will return soon because the place was PERFECT. We used www.absolutecharm.com to book. We then spent the rest of the day walking down Main Street and visiting the shops. There were several stores that also did wine tastings. The next morning we went to breakfast with our vouchers at Rathskeller and it was YUMMY! We did a limo wine tour from 11:00-4:00 with SkyLine Limousine and the tour took us to 5 wineries and each was great. They gave us sample itinerary and we enjoyed each winery. Our driver was very knowledgeable about each location. The next day we went to breakfast and went to Mahaley's and had some great breakfast burritos. We cannot wait to go back for another visit!
