There are many interesting shops. You can also sit outside at many places for an appetizer and a drink. There are also nicer, not fancy, inside restaurants There is a giant chess board for the kids to play with. You can go to the waterfront and watch cruise ships leave.

My daughter and I love shopping on The Strand and do so every time we visit Galveston. I highly recommend The Admiralty, The Jewelry Garden, and Tina's. We also eat at Yaga's or Willie G's when we're there.

We love strolling down the strand and visiting the shops and looking at the old buildings. The parking is usually free, although the City is trying to "Parking Meter" up the town. Be sure to stop into the old fashion soda shop and have a root beer float.

All in all, a great place to stroll and visit.

Have Fun!! MG

I think we most enjoyed seeing the historic buildings and architecture. The railroad museum is close by. The kids' favorite was La Kings Confectionery, where we got to see them make salt water taffy and have some treats as well. They have something for everyone. My advice is to park next to the railroad museum as parking is free.
