“The ship is worth visiting - the rest is very basic”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 February 2012

We were making a long weekend trip to the Houston and Galveston area and spend a day sightseeing in Galveston with our two young children. After parking near the cruise terminal this was the first spot we visited. For the admission price the ship is worth visiting. It is in very good condition and you can enter various areas above and below deck. But for very young children there is very little to do. We spend about 30 minutes touring the ship and were done. The museum itself is better suited for people that have the patience to read exhibit descriptions but with our children we skipped that after looking around for 5 minutes.

“Quick tourist stop for not much money.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 February 2012

It was pretty neat to see an old ship like the ELISSA. My tweenaged son loved it. My younger daughter also liked it. It was a quick self guided tour of the ship. The price was very reasonable and includes admission to the museum. Total time about 1 1/2 hours with the trip to the gift shop.

“Nice ship but, more of a adult tour.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 February 2012

We toured the Elissa ship on our visit to Galveston. Nice ship but for the little kids it was a little boring. More of a older child or adult attraction. Wortha visit one time. Nice air conditioned gift shop in the summer months and right net door to Fishermans Warf best seafood on island also right next door to dolphin tours so you can make a day out of it.

“Love the history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 January 2012

This is a great visit and doesn't take that long. The ship is a functional tall ship and there is a lot to see, but as it's a ship it can be seen quickly. We were on the ship itself about 30 minutes. The museum, on the other hand, takes a bit. They have a great history of the area, the ship, and shipping in general on display. Well worth the time and the cost isn't terribly high, either.

“Very well kept piece of history.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 January 2012

Many don't know that Galveston was a major port of immigration for Texas and the United States. This wonderfully kept sailing ship is only part of this museum. Great for history buffs and folks trying to find out more about how their families came to Texas.
