We loved our spacious room, the service was great and they have a free shuttle to the Cruise Port. Rainforest cafe next door had a free shuttle to Pleasure Pier. The Hotel even shuttled us to Moody Gardens for free ( just don't forget to tip the friendly helpful driver!)

Hotel in good location, clean, service OK. There is nothing special about the hotel.
Breakfast buffet is OK but below average as far as buffet service. Eggs were awful.
Also children were running around screaming and hotel management did nothing to
Stop this action. This kept up the entire time of my visit to the restaurant. Room was fine.

Galveston is a tiny island. The beach is tiny with soft sand but with many rocks and kinda dirty with litter. This beach/ island/ area would not be a destination for vacation We visited in late march on business and it was extremely windy/ cold. However the hotel is in the middle of the islands amenities.

Pros:
1. Modern updates to lobby and rooms
2. Nice pool with swim-up bar
3. Convenient self parking
4. Potential for good views of the ocean

Cons:
1. I rented a King bed but the room & bathroom felt cramped
2. Tiny balcony area, two people can barely sit and dirty with bird waste.
2. Walls are paper thin, all noises can also be heard from the hallway
3. Restaurant/ bar within the hotel only average as "as stated by the staff" - they recommend many other restaurants over their own.
4. No mini bar or fridge

Room Tip: Hotel restaurant not recommended by staff. Prior to traveling to the area, research restaurants to a...

4 pm 3-27-13: The power to the hotel was shut off all day. It was restored at 4pm and the hotel's computers would not come back up. I realize this is not the fault of the hotel, BUT they could have planned for this. There were two front desk attendants trying to check in copious upset persons. Their ( I assume manager) a heavy set male with brown hair, just looked on while the poor front desk attendants did their best. I really felt sorry for them. They could have assuaged their customers with better planning. My floor was under maintenance and this just added to the ordeal. Then I went for a walk on the sea wall and was accosted by homeless beggars. (Not the hotels fault) My money is on Port Aransas, S Padre. No beggars, and just a better and safer place.

Room Tip: Stay in Port Aransas or S Padre

Stayed at the Hilton prior to boarding on our cruise. I have nothing but nice things to say about this hotel. I would definately stay here again. All the staff was nice from the front desk, bar area and dining area.

We stayed one night before taking a Disney Cruise to Bahamas.
Clean rooms, service is very good. The concierge at the door excelled at his job. He would go the extra mile to accommodate your needs. He would offer you bottled iced water or cookies for the kids. Always ready to give you a good tip or tell you where the shops were or where is the best place for dinner.
The hotel is next to a Rainforest Cafe and even though it is not the cheapest option to have dinner before you go on your cruise, the hotel had coupons for free meals for the kids with the purchase of an entree.
Walmart is located 2 long blocks away if you have to buy the last minute thing. It was a 7 minute walk. If walking is not an option for you, then you're looking at $10 minimum for the 2 minute cab ride. You also have a grocery store that sells alcohol next door ( we opted for Walmart though).
If you're looking for a middle of the road, clean and well kept hotel option for a night or two if your taking a cruise you an go wrong at the Hilton in Galveston.
There are cheaper options ($80 to $90 a night) but for what we heard from many people was that they are located in a not-very-safe part of town. We didn't want to take any chances especially when traveling with kids.
Hope this helps :)

This hotel has a great view, right on the sea wall, and a heated pool. But, you will pay for EVERYTHING, including $10 per device per day for internet and if you do not have a laptop, be prepared to pay serious $$ if you need to use the internet (and pay $1 per sheet if you need to print anything). There are no microwaves, mini fridges etc... like some of the other nice hotels in the same area. There were never towels for the pool and the sauna was "luke warm". The heated pool was very nice though. As far as hotels go, it was beautiful. But, I think I would rather have more comforts than beauty if I am going to stay more than one night at a hotel. No microwaves, mini fridges, etc... Rooms were very clean though. The beds were very comfortable (pretty standard for Hilton brands).

Room Tip: The balconies are nice, but unless you really plan on sitting out there instead of enjoying the beac...
