“You have to See Giant Storm”

Very memorable and enlightening. They do have a restroom in there if you are shopping upstairs or visiting for the movie. The gentleman validated my parking as well for 2 hours free.

“Less than impressed...”
Reviewed 19 August 2013

I know I am in the minority; but not at all impressed with 'The Great Storm' at the theatre. It did have a fair amount of history and some of it very interesting about the rebuilding and how the town height was raised - but the part on the storm itself and lead up I found quite wanting; have seen much better on the History Channel. Did not appreciate the staff member at all either who was both bored and lazy; did not seem to like customers bothing her. For the price it is all right as it is not expensive; but I would not recommend this attraction to someone visiting.

“History, plus a cool place to sit for an hour”
Reviewed 18 August 2013

The tour guide (Cool Tours) recommended this little theater, which shows a 30-min film about the Great Storm of 1900, as well as a shorter film about the pirate Jean Lafitte (you can purchase tickets for both as a package). The "box office" is a little gift shop, which actually had some good books and cool toys. I picked up the pirate card game "Loot" for $12, and we have been playing it as a family since I got back home. The films themselves are average, although the Great Storm film does a good job at helping the viewer begin to understand the devastation of that disaster. The Jean Lafitte film seemed like something from PBS, complete with modern actors interpreting history. It was a bit cheesy, but all in good fun. Plus, on a day with a heat index of 110, the theater was a great place to be for an hour. The cost (around $10 per person) could get expensive for a large family/group, but I felt it was worth my time as a tourist and history buff. The guy selling tickets/running the gift shop was very friendly and knowledgeable.
