What a nice place to stop for cocktails after walking for a couple of hours. Happy hour on a Sunday - not very often you see that. Our bartender was very nice and the drinks were good and priced cheap.

Gumbo tasted like French Onion soup with some seafood thrown in. Also, it was not even tepid. Appetizer portions are extremely wee for such exuberant prices. Not a pleasant wait for cold outside seating.

We've eaten at the Fisherman's Wharf many times over the past few years and always enjoyed the view -- especially of the "Elisa" tall sailing ship berthed next to the restaurant -- and the food is good. We've had informal lunches and more complete suppers here and always walked away pleased. This is basically a "tourist restaurant", but then almost everything in Galveston is a tourist place. The atmosphere is bright and informal and there is a lot of "energy" in the restaurant. I recommend the "Elisa Room" off to one side of the restaurant where the tall ship "Elisa" is berthed literally a few feet away with the bow sprit extending over the Elisa Room. It is quite a view. (Ask to be seated there.) The marine activity in the Galveston channel is also busy with an occasional very large cruise ship meandering by on it's way out of the port or into the port. The Fisherman's Whart is a fun place to dine. For us, it is a "destination" in itself.

My husband and I stopped in for a mid afternoon lunch. Obviously, the restaurant was not full but we were given our choice of tables. Although clearly new, the waitress still did an excellent job and the food was fantastic. We both had fish dishes and they were prepared to perfection. If we lived near the Galveston area, we would certainly make it a point to go back.

We sat outside & were able to watch the bit of traffic & activity on the water. Even saw a dolphin! The food was fantastic & the waitress was attentive & friendly. This is definitely a place we'd return to.
