My husband and I decided to stay at the new Courtyard the night before our cruise. It is a beautiful property. Our room was mostly clean and beautiful. The bathroom floor did not look mopped and the carpet already has stains, which is sad! The bed was typical Marriott comfortable and the shower was nice. The staff was friendly. We decided to eat breakfast in the cafe (an upcharge) and it was not very good. The oatmeal was cold and the coffee, although it was supposed to be starbucks, was weak. I would still stay here again though as I am a Marriott fan and I like the Courtyard brand!

Too bad - this place is in a great location - far enough from the hustle of downtown Galveston to be relaxing, but the staff seems to need a kick start. The Café is poorly run, with one staffer picking her eyes and touching your food all the while looking completely burned out. With all the international travelers they have staying with them, you would think they'd have some zip, but not so. I will tell others to go, but we will not be back to this location and I am a loyal Marriott fan. A staff without inspiration can ruin a vacation.

Room Tip: Waterfront is always preferred, but the hotel is in a perfect spot either way.

After staying in a dumpy Comfort Inn this was like heaven. New hotel across from the ocean/beach. It has a pool, outdoor fire pit, Bistro, Starbucks, Fitness Center, Business Center, laundry, and lovely decor. The staff was friendly and helpful. I did several online searches and found this with a great rate, it should have been more than double of what we had paid for the quality. Check this property out!

It is worth the extra $ for the view. Hotel is lovely, with great beds, pillows etc. Staff was very friendly, and had some very good restaurant recommendations. French toast in the bistro was great, although a few more strawberries would have been nice. Beach is literally across the road.

Newer hotel at the end of the strand, away from restaurants and shops. On site bistro limited meal service, so will have to go back towards the center of the seawall area to find same.

Good sized room, interesting configuration, made great use of nooks and crannies for storage. "Coffee" table came in handy for eating breakfast items we brought from home. Nicely decorated, enjoyed the "ocean view" mural above of the bed, as were in the back of the hotel. Note, one elevator requires use of room key, can be confusing if staff wasn't handy to point this out to us.
