We stayed at the hotel and this was the best part!! Bergetta suggested we get reservations and she hooked us up with an amazing waiter, Adam. When we came down to eat she walked us over and handed us off to Eleanor. We noticed and liked that instead of just walking us over there she handed us off introducing us to Eleanor and then Eleanor did the same with Adam. John Paul came by to check on us and several of the staff members helped out. Be careful of Adam, he really knows how to sell a bottle of wine. haha. I could not say enough good things about the service. The steaks were delicious!!!! And the sides were great.

“At the San Luis”

I should have rated this excellent. The only reason I did not was the price. They have the best aged steaks of about several major cuts, and at time you will find a wonderful lobster, chicken breast if your not a beef eater. The meals are ala cart, you order the steak, the baked potato, the salad, the vegatable etc. They have wonderful deserts as well. As I first said it is a cozy restaruant where, (I am guessing) maybe 60 people can sit and eat at once. The wait staff is very good and normally probably has two or three tables they take care of. It is one of my favorites for Valentines Dinner, or some special occasion.

“What a wonderful surprise”
Reviewed 20 March 2012

Not what you would expect on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico. Not what you would expect from a hotel in general. The steaks could not have been better, three fillets and a rib-eye. The lobster bisque got the nod as did all the different salads and sides ordered.

There were a couple of disappointments along the meal. Their appetizer of escargot and pastry arrived barely warm and the pastry was chewy and unable to break/cut with your fork and even proved a little difficult with a knife. Therefore most of it was left on the plate and removed without notice or question by the server. The desert brought the most disappointment, their Grand Marnier soufflé looked beautiful and was tasty however the meringue was still a little grainy. Their molten chocolate eruption desert was again served at an inappropriate temperate thus no eruption and simple sent back. Our waiter was competent but not come across as experienced and definitely not polished.

They offer a hearty wine list of which we were pleased and happy to explore.

Two additional critique the tables arranged in middle of the walk way are problematic They are too big for the space which makes it difficult to get around them as well as uncomfortable to sit and have strangers purses and behinds intrude on your dining experience. Then again the same table is too small for four patrons. They could not handle the normal dinner settings of; a water glass, wine glass, entrée plate, vegetable plate, bread plate, bread basket, sauce boat, salt, and pepper shakers. We had to decide what to give up that would fit on the table. So my suggested solution is that the tables in the middle be reserved for parties of two.

With the emoting ambiance The Steakhouse should have a sommelier to support their wine list.

In the end there is a bit room for improvement however the main reason you would choose to dine at The Steakhouse is for the steak, . . . and it was superb!
