This is kind of hard to find. There is no building or stand just a sign on the sidewalk. It is a cheap trip and last about an hour and a half. It is an open air tram that gives you great views of the city. Very interesting. It is not something I would do everytime but if you have never done it I would recomend it.

We did this tour at 9.30 one morning when it wasn't too hot. It lasted about 90 minutes and was full of interest and information. Having been on the tour we felt we knew Galveston a lot better and could appreciate our visit there much more. Worth every penny.

We did this little tour last Saturday and we highly recommend it. It really was very informative and interesting. A bit of advice... This is quite a casual event, you do not book or buy tickets in advance. Just show up. He was parked by the Pleasure Pier, that pink trolley is easy to spot. FYI - the operator does require a certain number of passengers to run the tour. Also, a few small children on the tour were a bit bored. Although the little trolley looks quite fun, the vast majority of sights were not kid oriented.

As others have stated - do this tour first, it really helps you decide on things you want to spend more time exploring.

I'm a displaced Native Galvestonian with memories of the "little pink tour train" passing our neighborhood several times a day. When visiting recently with an out-of-state friend, we decided to start our visit on the train so she could get a feel for the island and pick out some places to revisit at length.

I do miss the pink engine and the fancy lettering on the cars, but it's not 1968 anymore. :)

The tour was about 90 minutes, most of which was with live narration. Our guide was knowledgeable, humorous, and took us to all the highlights east of 29th Street. There was one recorded portion that came early while we were northbound, but the rest of the tour was "live."

We got a nice overview of the area and some of the historical facts were new even to me!

I'd definitely recommend this as a first event, especially if your plans are open-ended. We came back to many of the places we drove past so that we could spend as much time as we wanted.
