“Great value; good place to spend the night. Indoor pool.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2012

This was our last stop in our Texas trip and we were happy with this choice of hotel. We wanted to relax and spend some time in Galveston, visiting Moody Gardens and Stewart Beach Park with our kids.

The hotel was nice and clean, had good continental breakfast and it was right in front of the beach. We had a balcony outside of our 3rd-floor room so we could enjoy the beach from there. There were plenty of restaurants/ fast food places nearby so access to foods were easy. To top it of, there's an indoor pool and jacuzzi so my kids had a blast playing in the pool.

After all of those good things, the best part for us was the price. We compared the rate with several different hotels nearby and the rates for other hotels were much higher.

I didn't give it a 5-star due to our breakfast experience. We woke up late that morning and had a late breakfast (9:45am). At around 9:55am, the staff cleaned/ took the foods out of the counter without warning us. The milk, toaster, eggs, etc were gone by the time we got our first bite of the bread.

Definitely not a resort type hotel but when sight-seeing all day all needed was a clean bed at night. Quality Inn hit the target. Clean rooms, great view of the gulf, excellent staff. Motel sits across the street from beach and is walking distance to several eateries, convenient drive to other attractions. Weekend price is out of line for what you get but is the norm with all other hotels in the area. We stayed three nights: Sunday and Monday @ $59 but Saturday rate was $199 for the same room.

Room Tip: All rooms have private balcony but lower floors give view of neighboring structures. Room 518 sits...

Hotel is nicely located, equally distant to entertaintment or eating places.

A room with ocean view is recommended.

Breakfast is similar to same class hotels (better than nothing).

Elevator waiting times can be long.

Overall: good for price.

Room Tip: higher floors with ocean view

Once in awhile you find a gem of a place on the water... as in, has a balcony overlooking the beach, great bed, pool, hot tub, free breakfast with sausage and eggs as well as waffles and the normal yogurt, sweet rolls, bagels, etc.., clean, safe, free parking, , ..... and it even has stuff you don't normally care about... a HUGE moveable flatscreen tv... work out room, good restaurants within walking distance (like a hundred feet out the door)... and the price is unreal.. as in under $50 a night midweek with your AAA rate. This is that once in awhile place. Complete with tropical colors, and an absolutely wonderful energy.

So... you think it is SO good, that if you are smart, you will keep it to yourself, so that it won't be fully booked the next time you really need a break. But then, you meet and talk to the staff. They are amazing. You hear them over and over again go the extra mile for guests.

So, you tell the truth and you let others know how truly wonderful it is to stay there. They couldn't give me the seagull calls that woke me this morning, but I believe they would have done that. I sat and used the computer in the lobby for long enough to see them let a dad and little girl go in and make waffles an hour after breakfast finished. I know first hand that they will call you if the room you really want (521 - with two windows on the water) opens up. And yes, they can find the sewing kit, or the paper, or whatever it is you need.

I have to leave.. I don't want to go... I'm sitting near the front desk listening to the clerk genuinely thank the people who are checking out. Wow. Not hype. Genuine. Good people, running a place I will visit again, as often as I can.

other side....

And you know what, there are two elevators. The front one is acting up and they have had the service folks out three times in five days. It is a bit of an annoyance. Means I will have to walk another 50 feet down the hall to the other elevator. Does this take it down a notch? Get real.

Room Tip: okay - anything over the 2nd floor should have a balcony on the water. 521, 421, 321 have morning s...

We normally stay at Hilton, but we figured we would give this hotel a shot since we were only saying on night before our cruise. It is a great location. It was nice and clean. Our air conditioner didn't work too well though. Our room got a little warm. The staff offered to move us, but we were in a suite and there weren't any more suites available. We decided to stay put. The hotel doesn't offer a shuttle to the cruise terminal, but they do offer free parking while you are on the cruise. The breakfast was ok. I have had better. The staff was very friendly.

We were absolutely thrilled with this hotel. The staff was very friendly. Every room has an unobstructed beach view balcony. I just can't say enough good things about our experience. We stayed in 513 which is the 3rd from the rear of the hotel on the 5th floor. We could see and hear the ocean on our private balcony. When they say "partial ocean view", it's a bit of a fib, because all you see is the ocean. No joke. The balconoies are also constructed so that you don't see or hear any of your neighbors.

Kroger is walking distance, as are McDonald's, Popeye's, and a convenience store. We never heard any of our neighbors the entire time. Parking was ample and convenient. The a/c worked very well, and the room had its own fridge which worked well also. We had the king bed with the pull out sofa bed, and our family of 4 was very comfortable. We didn't feel cramped at all. The entire hotel was freshly painted and not in need of updating. We stayed at the Best Western next door 2 years previously, and liked the Quality Inn much better.

If you like Galveston, you'll absolutely love this hotel. We will definitely stay here again.

It's difficult for me to think of any negatives, but just to "keep it real" so this doesn't sound like a staff member writing this:
The flat screen HD tv's are using low def cable, so the picture is not very good. But to be honest, who goes to Galveston to watch tv in a hotel, right?

There are a lot of seagulls, as I'm sure there are at every hotel.

There was only one high chair in the breakfast area. We have a toddler and an infant. The 2nd morning that we were there, the high chair was already taken. No biggie, because our daughter just sat in my lap.

We did our homework with hotels before we took this trip. We read the reviews, and we found that this hotel had the most positive reviews and the least "deal breaker" negative reviews. We stayed here in March 2012 the week after spring break, and our rate was only $59/nt.

Room Tip: You can see the sunrise unobstructed, over the water from the odd numbered rooms.
