I have been here three years in a row. This year the workers seemed a little inexperienced so my visit was not as good as usual. I did a detox bath, detox body wrap, massage, and pedicure. It was all okay but nothing to boast about. I do love the Galvez hotel though...so beautiful

I took advantage of the Galveston Oasis Retreat package yesterday, and chose a Hydrotherapy Bath (fabulous - well worth it), the Aroma de Cafe Body Treatment (decent, but slightly less exciting than I'd imagined it would be), a Swedish Massage (lovely) and the Galvez Personal Best Facial (a complete disaster).
To start out, the Spa is beautiful; the relaxation lounge and complimentary Lavender-infused Champage are really enjoyable before, in between and after your treatments. The Hydrotherapy bath I began with was very soothing and a great way to begin a day of pampering as it relaxes your musles as the massage therapist focuses on scalp and acupressure massage - will definitely partake in that again. The Aroma de Cafe Body Treatment was very quick and not what I expected; just basically a quick rubbing of the salts onto my skin, and not a ton of actual exfoliation...which is what I expected would be happening - may or may not choose to have a body treatment done at the Galvez Spa again. Next came my Swedish massage, and Melissa the therapist was very skilled and attentive - I would definitely request her again. To round out my day of leisure, I was next brought into a Personal Best Facial with Elaina my Aesthetician. I can honestly say this was the worst facial I have ever had. The service provider seemed very rushed and not at all concerned with my relaxation or pampering. She performed maybe 15 extractions, and trust me, my face could have used more! She was brusque, quick with her series of movements and just generally did not seem like her head was in the zone. I would not return to have any services performed with that employee.
All in all, my day at the spa was very pleasant, and I look forward to a return visit.
