“Great Girls Weekend”
Reviewed 30 January 2013

It's hard to find a hotel for 5 women friends to go to for a girls weekend. The Victorian was perfect - room 1302, a 3 bedroom, had everything - 2 bathrooms, a sitting area, a kitchen, a great price and a balcony that overlooked the seawall. We didn't need 2 hotel rooms and could stay together with plenty of room. The staff were super friendly and helpful, the restaurant was good and handy, and a great location made the weekend. Galveston has so much to offer and the Victorian made our holiday stay from 1/19/2013 - 1/21/13 special. We will be back again for another MLK weekend.

Room Tip: A roof over the lobby detracts from the ocean view in one room on the 3rd floor.

We recently stayed at the Victorian for my daughters 13th bday party, she brought along a few friends, The hotel was great! It was comfortable and there was plenty of space for everyone. It was easy to find, well lit with on premise security. We will definitely be back!

I have fond memories of coming here as a child but the years have not been good to this hotel. Four adults and a toddler stayed in 5308 from 1/9/13 - 1/11/13 so the weekday rates made it appealing as well as having a kitchen to store some drinks/snacks. I'll begin with the few redeeming qualities: the view from this room is sort of overlooking the mushroom pool you can see on their website. Also, the hotel is directly across the street from the sea wall although it's quite a long walk to any of the main attractions such as Pleasure Pier and good restaurants. Now my list of disappointments: the front desk called to check in and see if everything was ok but they do this 5 min after you enter the room. We really hadn't had time to review anything much less get all our bags in (tip: go directly to the room and make sure you have adequate bedding/pillows/towels since the later it is, you may be required to go to the front desk yourself and get anything you are missing). So we said everything seemed fine. Later, we realized we had 1 pillow, excluding what was in the bedroom) so we requested two others but were brought 1 and told we should have one in the hall closet. We did but that was for the person sleeping in the hallway daybed. So I guess the people sleeping in the fold out sofa have to share a pillow. The linen is wrapped in plastic wrap but not labeled so not only do you have to guess what's in there but so does the front desk staff. The sofa bed had crumbs when we pulled it out, the bathroom shampoo was half full, the Kleenex ran out after 1 night (this was restocked with maid service the next day) and the items we put in the fridge froze into ice (strawberries, cheese stick, milk, eggs). If you want affordable but not very pleasant or accommodating then this is a good option. Otherwise, keep shopping!

We enjoyed our stay for 5 days and 4 nights. The view was amazing. The staff was very attentive to our needs when requisting services. My only problem was with the refrigerator when did not keep items cold and it froze over twice during the stay, need to be replaced or repaired. Carpet needs replacing. More seals around the door to keep wind from howling during high winds other than that it was fine.

Room Tip: Always ask for a room with the view of the Gulf.

We rented 3220. We did not get to see the place before renting. If we had we wouldn't have wasted our money. We got in and had to clean the pubic hair out of the bathroom sink, wipe the crud off the sink surface and the kitchen counter. The stove was dirty with caked food. Stains on the carpet. Towels dirty. There was pubic hair in the bed, and the pillow had an impression in it. Obviously not changed since the last person. Non-smoking unit - cigarette burns on furniture and we about aphixiated when we walked in due to smoke smell. Why should we have to clean a place prior to staying? No refunds? Rip off. Security guard? Was there when we checked in, not when we left 1/2 hour later. Gate open. Don't waste your money. Absolute filty place. Should be condemned.

Thank you for taking the time to comment concerning your stay at The Victorian.

Unfortunately, the unit in which you stayed, unit 3220, is not in our rental pool. At any given time, The Victorian has an average of 160 units in the rental pool. The remainder of our 330 units are permanently occupied or rented out directly by the owner or his/her agent. The owners who rent out directly are free to have whatever accommodations they choose in their units. They are also responsible for keeping their units clean and in good repair.

For the owners who opt to be in the rental pool, The Victorian sets strict standards by which the owners must abide. Specific requirements for beds, TV's, furniture, and other amenities must be met. Upkeep of these units is taken care of by our experienced Maintenance Staff; our top-notch Housekeeping Staff make sure that each unit is immaculate before a guest arrives. Each occupied unit gets daily towel exchanges and trash pick-ups. All of these services are included in the nightly rate.

We hope that you will give The Victorian another try. We are sure that you will be more than pleased with our rental pool units and the excellent service provided by each of our departments.

We arrived on Friday night a little late, from the website what we were expecting and what we got was not the same! The reviews online were all great. We stayed the weekend to attend the nutcraker ballet at the grand. The room had a weird smell when we arrived. The furniture is extremely outdated! We were expecting friends the second night so asked for a room that could accommodate 4 adults, and 2 children, the room we received was to small to allow that so our friends drove home. There was a bunk bed built into the hallway. The pool was nice it was heated. We did find various bugs in the room throughout of stay. The patio was large with a view what was the point. I am spraying of stuff for bedbugs just in case. I did mention to the front desk about the broken burner in the kitchen, the burnt out light bulbs, I asked the girl at the front if our room is the same as everyone else's she said that the owners just put the rooms in a rental pool. While why not make sure everything works before we check in. Considering that we made the reservations in October I really expected better. For the same amount of money there are nicer hotels in galveston, I posted pictures.
