My partner and I had dinner at Desperados in Garland. It was our first visit here. The restaurant was less than half full, but the bar was doing plenty of business judging by the thick acrid cloud of cigarette smoke permeating the entire restaurant. It was like taking a trip back in time to the 1970s, and not in a good way.
I understand that the city of Garland still allows smoking in bars, but restaurants should at least attempt to employ filtration systems to make the air indoors breathable for those of us who don't smoke.
As for the food, it was quotidian Tex-Mex fare, unremarkable apart from everything being very heavily salted. To their credit the servers (there were several working our table) were attentive and we did not have to ask for refills on our drinks.
I doubt that we will return here if only because there are so many smoke-free restaurants from which to choose.
