“Best family spot...ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 June 2013

Last year we brought our 4 & 2 year old boys and my parents and stayed in the Farmhouse. There was so much fun stuff to do we didn't even need to leave the place to have fun. Our kids still refer to Country Woods as "our new house" and have been begging to return for a year. We came back this year and brought some family friends. Again, too much fun stuff to do. Even when the water level is low there is a resort across the street with a pool you can swim in for like $3. They have thought of everything you might need even down to a jar to collect fireflies. The toys and fun stuff around the houses provide endless fun for all ages. It's the most fun and affordable vacation we've ever had. Book early b/c the spots fill up fast!

We stayed two nights in the Rail Car May10 and 11 2013. The location is absolutely great. It is on the back of the property in a beautiful wooded area. We have two children, a girl age 7 and a boy age 9, and they both loved it! The property is well kept, and the rail car was well equipped and decorated so well in the train theme - it was perfect. There is a playground in the front yard, and the children also loved the barnyard and the hiking trails. We would definitely recommend staying at this property.

Room Tip: The rail car is more in a secluded and a short walk to the barnyard and other cabins.

We had a lovely stay for 3 nights with our 3 and 6 year old children. As native Dutch, this was a true experience of Texan hospitality. The house was nicely decorated with personal touch to it and well equiped. Lot of toys for the children to play outside and they had a truely nice time. A stay worth recommending.

We booked a 2-night weekend stay with my 12 and 10-year old daughters, and they had a great time! The barnyard animals kept them entertained for hours, as did the Paluxy River (a 2-minute walk). We stayed in the Farmhouse, and it was very quaint and nicely decorated. If we go back to Glen Rose, we'd definitely check this place out first.

We wanted to spend some time with the kids, away from TVs and electronics, and get back to nature. Initially we intended to make our visit to Fossil Rim the main part of our visit, but as it turned out, we didn't want to leave Country Woods!

We stayed in the Rail Car becaues my 3-year old loves trains. They thought of everything: fossil hunting bags, bird-watching kits, lists of things to do, hammocks, swings (my 12-year old daughter and I loved the two-person swing)...pretty much everything you need for some good old fashioned family time. As my boyfriend said, "they thought of everything and left us alone."

The first morning we woke up to deer grazing in the meadow (until my 3-year old's excited shrieks scared them away), we fed the bunnies baby carrots at breakfast, fed the goats, and enjoyed our own continental breakfast in the barn. We didn't want to leave! I would suggest this as a getaway for families, friends, couples, and even for a solo trip. We will be back this summer! Thank you Helen, for creating such a magical place for our family to reconnect.

Room Tip: Bring matches and a starter log to build a pit fire for roasting marshmallows!

It was a great place to relax and get away love the view we had from the Saddle House.the next time we would like to stay. In the cabin in the woods and maybe walk the trails but overall it was very enjoyable.the area was in a good location. we might bring the grandkids next time they would enjoy the animals and the trails.

This was our first time at the Country Woods Inn and it was great. We stayed in the Saddle House and it was so cute and quaint. The house was stocked with more than we expected, they thought of everything we would need. My kids could not stop talking about all the barn yard animals. When we left they said why can't we stay one more night. That says it all!

Room Tip: The Saddle House was cute and in a good location, near the playground. However, it had the laundry...
