“An Authentic Luxurious Lodge”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2013

The Rough Creek Lodge offers fresh, delicious breakfasts, haute-cuisine dinners with complimentary wine list, chic country western decor, beautiful rooms, and an array of amenities that will please the hunters, the children, and those seeking peace. The intimate size of the lodge guarantees a peaceful atmosphere, superb service, and no waiting time for zip lining, hunting, archery, fishing, etc... The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. This small resort should be listed in the "Small Luxury Hotels of the World" index. Overall, a wonderful place to get away from it all!

Room Tip: If you want to avoid spiders and cratered beds, do not choose Arrowhead or Bobcat cabins, but stay a...

Rough Creek is absolutely wonderful, and I would give it a 10 on everything! It is beautiful, the food is deliclious, and the service is awesome. The entire staff is so friendly, pleaseant, and helpful. There are so many fun activities. We took our 4 grandchildren, and we all had a great time!

Overall, our stay at Rough Creek was outstanding. It was everything we hoped it would be and more. We had to reschedule a couple of times due to family conflicts but it was well worth the wait. Because of this, I rank our stay and Rough Creek - as a whole - a 10! The fact that you were very accommodating with our own personal issues was a huge relief. The service/staff was exceptional everywhere. Each employee, from the cleaning service to management truly seemed to love their job and they were empowered to make decisions that made our stay enjoyable and special. This one night stay was fairly expensive for us, but I believe that it was worth every penny!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor.

My husband and I absolutely loved this place! From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The room was incredible! Huge bathroom and bedroom area, incredibly comfortable bed, and large windows and balcony overlooking the lake. The food at the resort was excellent. The jalapeno bread is to die for!! Service was excellent. We relaxed at the Adult Only pool during the afternoon, and fished in the evening. There was so much to do! We will definitely be bringing the kids back next year. Thanks for such a wonderdul experience. We cannot wait to return!!!

Wow....not only was the food all we had heard, but the staff were ultra-accommodating and friendly. We had a very relaxing stay, but you can do all kinds of outdoor activities. Our suite was big and comfy. The rates weren't cheap, but it was well worth the money.

I am normally not one who jumps on the message board and give my thoughts or even think its even neccesary for some people but after my stay here i felt like i wanted to say couple of things. Lets start out addressing some of the statements made prior. Too pricey - well almost everything is these days. Hunting - well if you were a true hunter then you should know a kill or even seeing a animal is not guaranteed. That's why its called hunting. Service - now from my personal experience with this place, its one of the best. Even with the best of the best sometimes things can go wrong and half of them are out of human control. The way I look at it is the resolution to the problem is how I proceed to look at the situation. To the gentleman who stopped by and didn't stay, your statment has no grounds and not even worth the energy to write it. So here is my opinion of Rough Creek - from the time I called to make my reservation I was greeted with a cheerful voice from a girl named Sydney who was very informative and helpful ,from there she sent me to dining. I kinda chuckled since the girl she sent me too sounded just like her. Felicia was just as wonderful and as cheerful as her counter part. Upon arrival we were meet by Larry and a young man he was training who helped us with our belongings. Sadly our room was not ready , they sent us to the dining room where treated like loyalty and was very accommodating. From there we decided a dip in the pool would be a awesome start to our vacation. My daughter and I was able to change in the lobbies restroom and that's were we were able to meet Cindy the reservationist ( not Sydney ) who helped my daughter wash her hands and walked us out toward the family pool. That afternoon we made it a our room and quickly changed for dinner where again the service was amazing. We did come back to a room that was very hot due to the AC malfunction but the moment we called to the front desk , it was immediately addressed and started the process of moving us to a different room. Bellstaff had already left for the day so the manager rolled up her sleeves prepared the room for our arrival and helped us move all our stuff to the other room. The rest of trip went smoothly, relaxing and all the activties kept us entertained. This place is a good place to get a break from the city life and it gets you as close to nature as possible. To Felicia, Cindy, Brittany ( our waiter) , Larry and the Manager , Thank you for a great time and the service you gave us!

The staff is the #1 asset of this resort.....EVERY ONE was very friendly, and helpful.....a real surprise in today's society! The location is very remote....but very Texas. The rooms were very nice, clean, and spacious. The food was wonderful and very plentiful. Many choices for breakfast and for dinner....the two meals that were included. The pool area was great....we spent lots of time there. Drink and food service was great there too. There are lots of activities to participate in....even for our 3 and 5 year old granddaughters! The guys enjoyed the shooting course and the girls enjoyed the spa. The only negative thing is the price.....which I felt was VERY expensive. It was a very nice resort , but I felt it was overpriced!
