“We keep coming back”
Reviewed 26 June 2014 via mobile

This year also we visited the Manousakis winery, and it's still a great place for tasting great quality wine in beautiful surroundings. My family and I have been there 4 times earlier as we have a house in Crete, but we still enjoy getting the guided tour and visiting this charming place outside Chania. Some new people this year, but still very welcoming and with great knowledge of the place. I truly recommend a visit to the place. And a great place to bring family and friends!

“A lovely winey, and even better wines!”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

While staying in Chania, my friend and I rented a car for a day and visited Manousakis on May 23, 2014. This place is stunning! The family estate is a beautiful place to taste wine and experience an authentic Cretan lunch, with the gorgeous backdrop of orchards. Truly, these were the best wines I tasted while in Greece. The host was incredibly accommodating (we made a mistake with our reservation but he still fit us in), knowledgable, fluent in English, and quite gregarious. Don't hesitate to put this on your itinerary. It is not far from Chania, and the signage is very good for driving.

“Friends and Wine in a lovely setting”
Reviewed 26 May 2014 via mobile

I found the winery online when looking for something to do in Chania during a cruise stop. We used Safari Tours for our transport to and from the winery with a stop at Old Venetian Harbour. The ride from Souda to the winery was scenic and very informative, Stephano our driver was excellent. We were on time for everything thanks to him. Jen, our wine tour guide was extremely knowledgable, fun and generous lol!! The wine and light lunch was delicious and an added bonus the 6 of us had the entire winery to ourselves. Only disappointment was we did not do the vineyard tour due to time constraints. Would def. recommend both Nostos Wine Tours and Safari Tours. Would love to go back. Jen and Stephano thanks for the fantastic day and memories!!

“Excellent half day trip”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

Booked on line for simple wine tasting at 5 Euros per person. Beautiful house set in rural location with modern winery next door. Excellent presentation from the delightful Evgenia who gave a brief history of the place and a tour of the winery before offering several wines for tasting after a brief description of each. The presence of a variety of nationalities from various backgrounds enhanced the experience. Even if you're not into wine in a big way I would still recommend this as an excellent way to pass a couple of hours.

“Fabulous experience, authentic rural location, interesting wine tasting”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

We left Chania by bus at 9.00 and arrived in the village of Vatolakkos about 40 mins later. From there, a short walk brought us to the winery. The tiny village itself is a snapshot of rural Crete and was lovely to see. Our host was great; very knowledgeable, friendly and in no rush. We saw all the processes of wine making, accompanied by interesting commentary. Although complete novices to the world of wine, we were made feel so welcome and all questions were encouraged. Our host explained and showed us how to go about tasting wine and I came away feeling like I had sampled a part of 'real' Crete and learned quite a bit about wine. Despite the rural location, very accessible from Chania and easily doable in a morning. Well worth a visit, even during a very short trip to Crete!
