My buddy and I are big into trains, and because we had run out of daylight, decided to do an overnight here since the location was perfect for the next day's activities. The hotel is very new and the staff was friendly and accomodating. We were given a top-floor room facing the railroad, which for us was great, although the train activity turned out to be too much of a good thing, even for us. So for those who are 'normal', it would be best to specifiy a room facing the back, away from the highway and train noise.

The room cleanliness and comfort were both excellent. Complementary breakfast was the usual high standard for HIX's; public areas were clean and attractive.

Although certainly not exculsive to this property, our one complaint was the lack of a CONSTANT fan-only setting on the room's air unit. Such a setting provides a good source of even, ambient sound which goes a long way to cancel out noise disturbance. Otherwise, keeping the fan running meant setting a temperature that was too hot/cold to keep the room comfortable.

An overall good stay; I would return again.

Room Tip: Not a train buff? Request a room facing the back.

Thank you so much for choosing our hotel, we are always looking forward to new guest. We are also very glad to hear that your experience with our staff was great, we take great pride in providing the very best service to our guest. Our housekeeping will be pleased to know their hard work hasn't gone unnoticed also. The sweet train; we are still in process of getting sound proof windows so that the train wont be a disturbance. We do apologize and hope it didn't ruin your stay.
Thank you so much for your feed back, and we hope to see you all again.

My wife & I were driving from Conroe to Waco after an evening concert in Conroe. We were both tired after a long day at work so I made reservations at this hotel so we wouldn't be driving too late.
I made online reservations and that was easy. We arrived at the hotel about 11pm and were greeted by a friendly front desk person. Our room was on the ground floor and on the back of the building. I read the reviews about the trains but we never heard them. We were tired and slept well.
The room was very clean and comfortable.
We did eat breakfast and it was fine considering we were not in a restaurant and the food was not ordered from a menu. The dining room was very crowded at 8am on Saturday morning.
I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: Based on the comments about the trains, I guess I would suggest asking for a room at the rear of the...

I have stayed at this property almost 20 times while traveling on business. I have never stayed at any other Holiday Inn Express locations so I am only going to compare this to the hotels available in the area of Hearne, Texas. Reservations and check-in are seamless, and they always have my key ready when I arrive, usually late at night. There is a cozy lobby with a fireplace, and the breakfast room is attractive and comfortable. I have seen groups of people watching the TV in the breakfast room and it looks like an OK place to socialize after work. My bed is always the best part of the room - big and soft and clean and fresh. Lots of pillows which I love. The room can get very dark if you pull the blinds which is good for daytime sleeping. The hotel is relatively small like all such micro-hotels, and very quiet. There is a Mexican restaurant next door called Ama's that I would drive 50 miles to eat at because the food is so good. Conveniently located right on Highway 6 on the north side of Hearne. The other hotels in the Hearne area are cheaper but are not up to my standards.

Room Tip: Don't miss the chicken flautas and fresh guacamole at Ama's next door!

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Hearne for business for three nights. This hotel is located right off Hwy 6 at the north end of town (roughly 30 miles from College Station). The property was clean and well kept, each room has a small fridge, microwave, and a flat screen tv. There's also a pretty good mexican restaurant next door called Ama's. However, bring sleeping pills if you plan to sleep at night, even if you have a rear facing room. The hotel is across the street from railroad tracks, and it seems the train runs every 45 minutes to an hour. If you want to work-out, your best bet is to go to the school track about a mile south behind the bank. To summarize, the HIE in Hearne would be a great hotel... if it is further away from the trains.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for staying at our hotel despite the train across the street. We are currently looking into updating our windows to better sound proof our rooms from any outside noise. We thank you for your positive review and hope you will visit us again in our updated sound proof room!

Great place to stay if you can't (or don't want to spend more $$$) stay in the Bryan College Station for A&M events. Only drawback are the trains that go by all night long. Ask for backside of hotel, turn the a/c fan on and you should be good to go. Will definitely stay here again!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Hearne, TX. The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The ONLY issue with the hotel was the train near by that was disturbing during the night and the air conditioner that cycled off and on. Breakfast was included with the room--and though not outstanding was adequate. This is a very small town and I would definitely stay here again.

Only 2.5 yrs old. Clean. It is right across the street from the train tracks that are active all night at different hours. If possible request a room on the pool/back side of hotel to decrease train and traffic noise. Was very surprised to find that they did not have TV station that carried the A&M game, which was quite the disappointment to us.
