For the fourth year in a row my family visited this resort on the same weekend. Improved since the separation from Marriott

Pros:
1. Personnel: greeted us with a smile, helpful in every way, from the front door to the check in, to the restaurant and bars,
2. Grounds: beautiful grounds. Take the time to stroll and visit the waterfall, the fountains and ponds. The birds are an added attraction.
3. Activities: pools, smores, checkers, running around, little lake beach, the marina. A multitude of activities await you and family.
4. Restaurant: breakfast and dinner buffet are excellent options for abundance and variety. Very affordable. Great personnel!!
5. Marina: rents boats, jet skis,equipment. Make telephone reservation ahead of your arrival.

Cons:
Nothing.

Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Away from elevators. Lake view. De luxe and above.

Not only was our room amazing but the staff is wonderful. I got a flat tire while we were there and the staff fixed it for me without delay. I tried tipping them and they wouldn't accept it. I thought the flat would ruin my day but the staff came to my rescue!!!

My husband and I drove from Houston to Horseshoe bay.
Got to our room, the fridge and safe were both broken. We wanted to go to the pool, but had to wait for maintenance. They couldn't fix either one, so they sent someone up to replace them.
The next morning my husband realized the toilet was broken, and had to use the one at the lobby. Again, waiting for maintenance to come fix it. They sort of did. Though still kind of finicky.
Later that day, as I went to step in the bath, to my horror, I saw a huge ROACH staring back at me. My husband killed it, But that was the last straw.
We went down to complain, and were given a different room. Packed up our stuff and moved rooms.
3 strikes.

The resort itself is breathtaking. My husband and I walked for hours just enjoying all the fountains and focal points. Also lots of things to do would like to go back when we have more time do activities as we only stayed over night for our anniversary. We really enjoyed the putt putt course and the arcade. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. We ate at the Latana restaurant that night and the highlight was definitely the service. The waitress was very personable and brought us out a slice of cake that read happy 3rd anniversary at the end of our meal. The cake was the best part of the meal. I ordered the lobster which tasted delicious but for the price I was expecting a larger portion.

Overall, I was very disappointed by the room as there was nothing special to dictate the price of the room. I noticed that their was a resort fee but to me the cost of the room was also the resort fee. We paid extra for the view of lake LBJ but the view was not really impressive. Our toilet backed up after one use but they were very fast about getting someone up to the room to fix it. It is a very family friendly resort as we saw a lot of children staying here and there was a lot of yelling and children playing in the hall at night. Not a big deal to me but may be to others. However, I can't recall being awaken by noise once I was asleep.

We definitely enjoyed the experience of the resort but would certainly upgrade to a suite for the price we paid for the standard room.

Room Tip: There is currently a special on groupon, the discounted price makes the basic room worth it

I went there because there was a deal on the livingsocial, and we need to stay in Austin in that week. To be honest, there was not much expectation, but this place was greater than what I thought.

It was Thursday and there were not too many people around in the resort. The pool at the hotel was good, but not greater than the good swimming pools you see in those apartments. There were two other pools in the resort, but we didn't have time to try other pools.
The fitness room was great with many things to try and nobody around in the whole gym!
The tennis courts were nice too and they host some camp and lessons like 'Andy Roddick camp or something', and there were lots of teenage future tennis stars and their parents.

The trail was charming with some birds to talk to, and you could try mini golf and bike rental.

The view at the yacht club was great too. You could ask for a shuttle at the front desk to get there from the hotel.

The only downside is that they have double beds, not two queens. But that can be overlooked by all the other great things the resort and the scenery around it could offer.

One last thing. The staff were really nice and friendly. They just brought up the microwave at my request, and I didn't hear any no from the staff members during the stay.

Highly recommended!

Last weekend, we had reserved a lake view-room with king-size bed and paid extra for the view. And they gave us a pool-side room and a double twin bed without telling us. Then, we got down to ask about this, and they said they don't do reservation and said nothing can be done. So, we asked to speak to the manager and, magically, the lady that was helping us found a king-size lake view room. And manager said she took off someone else's reservation to give us this room. But earlier they said they don't do reservation which was why we didn't get the room we wanted. So, this does not make sense and she apparently lied. So, we go to that new room, only to realized it was still a pool side view. And we paid the extra fee for a lakeside view. This took about 2 hours and they only thing she and the manager kept saying this was the best they can do. And the lady was also having a really bad attitude, not customer-oriented at all. If you have a bad day, you should not be bringing it to work as a customer service

Then, we decided to work with another front-desk person, Caitlin, who seems nicer than the one we first worked with. And Caitlin first apologized for the situation and gave us coupons to free drinks while she will find another alternative for us. Then, she gave us a free upgrade to a 2bd/2bth condo, with a lakeside view balcony. Caitlin had turned the experience from negative to a 3 star.

Checked in around 2:30 but we're told that our room wasn't ready. This was Fine but odd since the other room we booked was ready for he other party traveling with us and checking in after us. Anyway front desk was to call us when our room was ready. We took luggage up to the room of our other party which was very spacious with a beautiful view from the 5th floor. Front desk never called but an hour later we finally called the front desk and our room was ready. Our new room was nice but a lot smaller than our other party's room and had a view of the first story roof.

Room Tip: Request a higher room for a better view. Also be sure to visit the yacht club pool
