Awesome dinosaur bones in the paleontology hall. The gems in the vaults were a good eye opener as well.

“Bones and Gems”
Reviewed 4 December 2013

More dinosaur bones and gems than just about any other natural museum. I was very impressed. The GIANT Ground Sloth bigger than any polar bear WOW. I am glad I live now and not back then. All of the bones were impressive and a very large collection make this worth the visit. At first I did not think much of the gem exhibition but after we started looking around it became very impressive. It is amazing what minerals pressure and time will make. What on the outside look like just rocks can be so wonderful inside.

We (2 teen age boys and a 50 year old) spent about 3 1/2 hours. We did not see any of the additional (pay) displays or movies. All had a very good time and really learned quite a bit. Could easily spend 5 hours if you buy the whole package.

“As great as any Smithsonian”
Reviewed 2 December 2013

This museum is world class! Its collection of dinosaur artifacts is superb, and the museum was recently updated to showcase these in a beautiful setting.

The newly opened Egyptology wing is equally stunning, with a great layout, excellent learning facilities, and of course, mummies.

My family has toured the best museums in DC and I'd put this one up against any of them.

“Great day at a great price”
Reviewed 1 December 2013

AAA discount for $7/pp to the main museum. Paleontology and Energy exhibits were great. Took my two boys and they loved it. Great way to end a Thanksgiving holiday. Only downside is that they only sell McDonalds for food.
