My husband took me there last night on Valentine's Day. I have problems with crowds so he found this adorable cafe which happens to be on the side of the Houston Zoo. They were having a special deal for Valentine's Day. They had live music, the trees had twinkly lights, the outdoor tables had a candle and all the ladies received a flower and chocolates. Included with the 3 course meal was a ride on the lake on a little boat. The staff was so nice, attentive and worked as fast as they could being that it was Valentine's day and many couples were there.

The food was great! When you think the cafe next to the Zoo you think bad quality food. No way! We each decided to have the jalapeno hummus and chips, I'm normally not that big on hummus, I loved it. They recommended the grilled cheese sandwiches, you should definitely try one, they have a variety to choose from but I have to say its good.

Overall it was amazing. Ambiance was perfect, staff were amazing, food was delicious, weather turned out cold but that is not anything anyone can control. They allowed us to get a rain check on our boat ride. I will definitely be going there again soon!

This is one of my favorite places in Houston! Grab a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich (and a side of tater tots are a must!), take your seat under a tree lakeside and enjoy your meal amidst the beauty of Hermann Park.

This isn't just really good for "park food," it's just flat out really good! The bread they use for the sandwiches and burgers and grilled cheese is all bakery quality and very fresh. In fact, everything always tastes really fresh. The grilled chicken sandwiches are cooked to order and juicy, and they have lots of gourmet cheese choices and other great toppings like fresh basil. The fried banana dessert is amazing. Sometimes they seem to get a little overwhelmed when it's busy and it can take a while for your food to come out, but they do cook everything to order. I hope they figure out ways to speed up service during busy times, but it's always worth the wait. The people working here are always really friendly. Prices are very reasonable, especially given the very high quality ingredients they use.

Don't go here hungry. They are SO SLOW. We waited almost 30 minutes for our lunch (two grilled cheese and falafel) on a Saturday. It was all a little greasy, but good. Awesome location. The employees are very nice but not efficient. Too bad, it could be great with some improved management.

A very Creative menu - build your own grilled cheese - and beautiful surroundings make this a fantastic place to eat! The wait times can be a little long, but the food is fresh and delicious and there's no better environment in town. You can sit and watch the pond, let the kids play on the grass, enjoy a smoothie and a sandwich or salad, and feel very relaxed here.
