“What a nice guy”
Reviewed 14 March 2014 via mobile

I've been to this place twice now, once a year ago and once now. This is no ordinary breakfast place. This roadside stand is a one man operation and what a nice man he is! Heck yeah! The man can take dozens of orders and remember them all while he makes two at a time on his burners. They have a rotating menu of half a dozen crepe options at a time. Today he was offering a ham egg and cheese, strawberry and mint yogurt, banana and Nutella and a few more. I had the first one. They have different salsa options too but they change based on what he's got in stock I guess. Today it was pineapple-habanero. I love sweet-heat!! I would highly recommend visiting the Melange Creperie for locals or tourists like me. I'm glad I have family living down the street that I can visit. Finally, cash only and if you have exact change you can spare him from having to take off his gloves.

“Great food and great service”
Reviewed 25 September 2013

Decided to try this when researching food trucks that would cater an event. Minimal wait, but your crepe is made to order in front of you. Sean is very informative and helps the time fly. He shops at the farmers market to get the freshest ingredients and his menu is based off what he finds. He also had fresh basil picked for his garden. The crepes are big and I had half left foe dinner that night. They also offer free goodies for your dogs. Needless to say, they are going to cater an event for our group in October.

“Made with love and cheer.”
Reviewed 11 May 2013

The breakfast was planed from a day before with our foodie son and his wife. We were by the stand at 9:50AM on Saturday watching Sean setting things up and pouring the batter for the first crepe of the day on the griddle and drooling along with several other couples. Ham, cheese and egg (and do not forget the hot sauce offered medium and Texas) for the hubby and marionberry and ricotta cheesecake for me - pure happiness. Why don't we have anything like this in Dallas?

“A must try!”
Reviewed 25 January 2013

Decided to try this place spur of the moment and it was SO worth it, even if we did have to stand outside and wait on a cold day in Houston! Lucky for us we were at the front end of the line, so the wait wasn't so long. The crepes are made with fresh ingredients and you can watch as he puts all of it together and prepares it for you. My hubby had the savory and I had the sweet -- we were both impressed, and really would have loved to order a second time around if the line hadn't been so long.
The owner is not only great with the food, but he's also quite the conversationalist, which adds life to the little crepe cart. Definitely give it a go!!

“A little bit of Paris in Houston”
Reviewed 27 February 2012

The food truck/card business is really picking up in Houston. All kinds of good food is being served 'on the go' and Melange Creperie is part of the trend. If you've ever been to Paris and enjoyed the amazing crepes that are sold on almost every corner, then this will send you back. If you've never been to Paris, this is Paris street food - fresh, delicious and so very simple. Just perfect.

There are two carts, one is in front of Mangos on Westheimer and Taft. The other is in front of Stella Sola, on Studemont at 10th. You have a choice of three different savory crepes and two or three sweet crepes. The ham, egg and cheese savory and the Nutella with bananas are the two mainstays. Otherwise, the menu changes monthly, I believe.

Our first trip was to check out the cart on Taft. The wait was 45 minutes long. We were told to check out the cart on Studemont. There was no wait, but that changed the next time we went. Saturdays are generally crazy from what we're told. We've only been on Sunday. This past Sunday there was a family of four in front of us and it was about a 15 minute wait before the crepe chef got to our order.

The wait can be long even if there are only four or five people in front of you. So be prepared. Next time we go, which will probably be this weekend, we're going to bring a couple lawn chairs, a coffee canister and the paper. That way we can chill out while we wait. But... the wait is sooo worth it. The crepes are wonderful and the perfect food on the go. All the ingredients are fresh. It's just a nifty way to have breakfast.

At the heights location, there are tables outside so if you bring chairs, you can set up at one of the tables and enjoy your crepes leisurely. There is parking out back. We haven't been back to the Westheimer location because the one in the Heights is just less crowded. Not sure what the crowds are like during the week.

Hours are Thursday through Monday. Thursdays, Fridays and Mondays from 7-1 and Saturdays and Sundays from 10-2. Crepes are $6-7 each. http://melangecreperie.wordpress.com/

Bon appetit.
