We booked this hotel based on good reviews. There is something
The good things: nice and decent room size.
Did not use: breakfast and other food services since Houston has a lot more restaurants to offer.
The bad things that make us not coming back: everyone stayed hotel were very frustrated since there were only 2 out of 3 elevators are working. Each tiny elevator can hold about 8 persons with no space left. There are 23 floors. This is horrible and unacceptable. Paid $24/day for valet parking and they can't handle traffic. Text 20 minutes in advance and wait for another 30 minutes in the lobby. We came back after midnight from a wedding party and the big hole construction is noisy. Not easy access from freeway.

We will stick with our all time favorite DoubleTree Suites at Galleria.

Room Tip: Away from the big hole construction.

This hotel was amazing I really enjoyed our stay besides one exception. The electricity went out and apparently they don't have a back up generator and lucky for me and 3 other people we where stuck in the elevator for at least 30 min. When hitting the call button we got hung up on several times the fire department had to come get us out. Management handled this situation really poorly they weren't even up there when we finally got out of the elevator. Management could of at least comped our parking, extended happy hour, or upgraded our rooms I have a 4 month old baby and thank God she was with my husband in the room when this happened. A staff member told me husband that there was a fire on the 18th floor (wasn't true) and had to evacuate immediately so he had to carry her 21 flights of stairs for nothing when he could of kept her in the room which was probably cooler than it was outside.

Thanks for choosing us and thank you for your feedback. We appreciate our guest's patience during what was a stressful time for the hotel, and apologize profusely for you being stuck in the elevator, and for the misinformation that had been spreading in regards to the reasons for the power outage. We have noted your comments and have addressed this issue in meetings ~ we hope your next stay with us is snag free, and we're committed to ensuring that it is.

This is a good hotel close to the limited attractions that downtown has to offer. We were upgraded to a suite on the 22 floor, which was actually a huge corner room but it very nice. A room with 9 floor to ceiling windows with a kitchen and large bathroom deserves a good review especially as we paid a very reasonable rate. The free drinks in the lounge were a nice touch and happy hour was a flexible 5 to 7pm. It was nice to sit in the lounge in a comfy seat with a glass of wine reading a book. The free breakfast was ok. As well as the usual eggs, bacon and bagel options there was a big bowl of fresh fruit which meant it was possible to have something healthy. We valet parked but felt that the price was excessive in what was otherwise a good value stay.

Dislikes: small pool area

Room Tip: Request a room on a high floor to avoid road noise. Also, there is now construction occurring on the...

Good deal! A decent stay, and an okay review, but we want to make sure your next stay is even better. While I'll be unable to increase the size of the pool area, I can give you our standard promise to always take care of our guests. We hope to have you back soon.

Well, the location is great. Really close to downtown and the baseball stadium (an indoor stadium with air conditioning!!!). The hotel is 10 minutes walking from a really good movie theatre. Fitness center and pool are not super modern but still work! From 8 pm to 10 pm they offer free homemade cookies and they also offer a good happy hour: from 5 to 6 pm they offer free drinks (2 glasses of wine or 2 glasses of beer). They also always had cold water (with lemons and lime) for the guests to take, right at the entrance.

I liked this hotel. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I stayed here with my husband to attend a concert at House of Blues. I knew it was at least 6 blocks to the House of Blues and I was hoping to get the hotel shuttle, but was told it would be difficult to get a ride after the concert. We walked back and I was a little uncomfortable walking the streets that late at night, especially because after a few blocks the groups we were walking with were gone their own way. Anyway, don't count on the hotel shuttle on the weekends.
The hotel happy hour was great. I was not there for the cookies and milk, but what a cute idea for kids. The breakfast buffet was very good. The room was a nice size and the beds were comfortable. I was a little disappointed to arrive back from dinner with some expensive left-overs that I thought I would put in the refrigerator and found that it was completely stuffed with all the hotel drinks and candy bars that are so expensive. It would have been nice to have been able to put something small in it.
All in all, I really liked this hotel and would stay at it again in the future. I will also recommend it to my boss when he comes to Austin for business. I believe it is great for a business traveler.

We stay at the Magnolia property whenever we are in Houston. Although Houston is only 90 minutes from our home in College Station, it’s just so pleasant to be within walking distance of our interests, be it the symphony at Jones Hall or the ball game at Minute Maid Park. This past weekend, we dined in the hotel restaurant with friends, then enjoyed an easy stroll home from the Houston Symphony Pops performance of “The Music of Led Zeppelin”, with a stop at our favorite hangout, Sambuca, and then a few short steps to our hotel.

My husband found this gem when he was practicing law in Houston and needed a quiet respite in the evening from his daily stress at the courthouse. The two-drink complimentary happy hour is so pleasant, and the room in which it is held provides a variety of moods, from the windows overlooking the law district of Houston, to the cozy bar, to the family seating area.

The price is unbeatable for such a spacious and comfortable suite with the amenities.
