Can't say enough good things about this hotel. Staff are all super friendly and helpful, especially the valet parking staff. Complimentary breakfast was always good, plenty of choice. Free drinks at happy hour was a nice bonus and absolutely loved the cookies and milk at bedtime, a really nice touch. Rooms are big and well appointed, big beds and nice bathrooms. Hotel central for everything, only a couple mins on foot from Minute Maid and a couple of mins in car from the freeway. Will definitely stay here again!

We booked a suite for my birthday in June. The visit started bad and stayed that way. It was difficult to get to the hotel because of the construction next door. The suite smelled like the previous guest had smoked in it. We repeatedly requested a wine opener (the suite has a kitchen so it was odd there wasn't one provided) it never came...my husband finally went to the bar and asked for one. We requested car service to a nearby restaurant - we were told as long as we called an hour ahead and that it would be first come first serve. We called an hour ahead then after 45 minutes outside in the heat, we decided to walk. There was no one else waiting. When we checked out - again, we waited 20 minutes for the valet when there was no one else around waiting for their car. start to finish I was disappointed.

We recently returned from a 4 night stay at the Magnolia Hotel. The rooms are very spacious and very well maintained. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. Staff that we dealt with were all very friendly and helpful. We chose the Magnolia Hotel because it was a short walk to Minute Maid Ballpark. We would definetly stay there again.

I have stayed at other Magnolia Hotels before and have always been pleased with the hotel. But first impressions of Magnolia Houston were not good. We arrived at 1AM and were surprised to hear that we had to wait 30min to have someone help us with our luggage. There were several empty luggage carts hanging around the front, but we were told that those were unavailable for use. We had been driving through the night and just wanted to get to our hotel ASAP. We had 3 children under 4 in the car and they were growing tired and restless from being in the car. We made this point clear to them, but they said we had to wait. Apparently there was a VIP with an entourage leaving at the same time we were arriving and that is why they made us wait.

When we finally got up to the room we noticed that the expensive bottles of water had been consumed and not replaced. We informed the front desk and they said that they would make a note and not charge us for the water. But when we finally got the bill they had charged us for the water.

The rest of our stay was fine, the room was clean and in the end the removed the erroneous charge. I was a little turned off by our initial experience, but we might go back the next time we are in Houston.

This hotel was a disaster.
We booked a hotel room with the Magnolia Houston after looking online for a property in downtown Houston with a pool. Although this property reflected raving reviews online, we arrived and found the place in a crazy frenzy of activity. Cars everywhere. Elevator backed up. Staff overheated and exhausted.
In defense of the staff, they were hosting a giant wedding that night - my review is not based on any fault of the staff.
The restaurant was CLOSED and the elevators took forever.
Then there was the room.
I opened the door to my room on the 20th floor, and when I opened the door I was hit by a blast of dank smell - it REEKED of MOLD. Just smelled like the AC had frozen over and then thawed and flooded the carpets on many occasions.
The carpets in the hallways looked like they had been vacuumed in the middle, but there was crud along the edges - no one had ever taken the time to bend over with the corner crevice tool and vac up those edges.
YUCK.
We did look at another room on the 13th floor, but that floor smelled moldy to me also.
I went to the desk clerk and related that it was not possible for me to stay there with the mold. Desk staff was courteous, but the experience was uncomfortable and unhappy for me and my daughter.
We left the property after less than 10 minutes and will not ever return. Pool or no pool.
Oh, and if you suffer from claustrophobia, do not stay here. The decor is dark - deep browns and purples which may be in fashion these days, but make everything look small and confining.
Not my style. Even if it has 4 stars.

Room Tip: Bring Benadryl for allergies if you plan to stay here.
