“A good deal from CityPass. Animals with character!”
Reviewed 17 August 2012

I bought the CityPass Houston and this was among the included attractions. The zoo was well laid out and nicely decorated. A wide variety of animals but the lions were so lazy! My facourites were the meerkat. The attendant was kind enough to give me a few extra lettuce leaves to feed the giraffe. A very exciting experience.

“We loved this zoo”
Reviewed 16 August 2012

In my opinion, this zoo is much better than the San Antonio zoo. They have more natual habitats for their animals, plenty of shade and lots of stay cool areas. The elephants were really active when we visited and the little ones even got in the water and played around a bit. The longhorns were awesome! Bring some swim clothes for the kids to play in the splash zone & don't forget your own towels because one will set you back around $22.

“Fond memories”
Reviewed 15 August 2012

I was born and raised in Houston and every year in elementary school had a school field trip there. Coming back as an adult, it's still as magical as I remembered. Try to go in the spring though as summers here are sweltering!

“Just your everyday zoo”
Reviewed 15 August 2012

There is nothing really special about this zoo. They didn't have any primates out, the lions were way in the back getting some shade, and the elephants stood perfectly still the whole time. They had a couple of good longhorns though. I guess a zoo will never be the same after your childhood years have passed. The food here was terrible. Don't go hungry if you're not bringing kids. I saw a lot of people with rolling ice chests with drinks in them. Good idea cause a bottle water cause around $4. We got the CityPass so it was cheaper than it normally would be.

“Great every time.”
Reviewed 13 August 2012

They are constantly working and improving here. Animals seem comfortable. I would not recommend going in heat/summer. Eating places are awesome. Be aware of your stuff around eating carts. I placed my canon camera on the cart to get money out and never found it.
