“First visit to Houston Zoo... at Halloween!”
Reviewed 29 October 2013

We went for the special "Boo at the Zoo" event. The parking lot was a zoo unto itself, which I hear is not always the case. The weather was perfect, so it was great walking through the different animal exhibits, because they are mostly outdoors and large spaces, so different from the caged animal exhibits of zoos of years gone by. Lions, tigers, monkeys, and many animals I'd never even heard of before. My friend wanted to take us to the African exhibit but it was closed for renovations. The children had fun with the special Boo at the Zoo activities, and many children were dressed in their Halloween costumes. Clearly a family friendly place visited by many families. Restrooms located all over the place. There are food places, but other than getting the children ice cream we didn't eat there. The lines were very long that day.

“Well worth the time for young and old”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

It has been a long time between visits. Well laid out and well signed making it easy to find the areas you are most interested in. Much to see, so if you want to see it all, get there early. A new ape exhibit is underway and looks like it will be a very fun place and well designed. We like to visit zoo's when we can and the Houston Zoo ranks right up there with zoo's around the globe.

“best zoo so far, not just the run of the mill animals”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

Lots of rare animals from all over the world.fossa, st.vincent parrots, cassowary, shoebills, argus pheasant, congo peacock, to name a few of the odder ones.nice landscape and enclosures, the animals all look content.food way to spend bout 5 hours, well worth the admission fee.they have lions, tigers, zebra, bears etc also.all around an awesome zoo.lots of places for ppl to be but plenty of animals also; not like the point defiance zoo in tacoma or woodland park in seattle with more park space for humans and smaller enclosures for animals.oh yeah, theyr little aquarium is actually diverse and interesting considering it is in a zoo.

“Great deal for military”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

Military members get in free...so that's awesome! My biggest complaint is the park isn't coherent. You find yourself backtracking a lot. But, it was free for my family, and my kid loved seeing all the animals and flowers. Its something we do each time we visit the area.

“Houston's Zoo is small”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

There is a free promotion for BOA card holders. The first weekend of each month, BOA card holder can get a free ticket to go. The Zoo is small since it is in downtown, not much space for it to expand. Be aware, the parking lot is also hard to find, I suggest you go there early to take a parking lot. Enjoy your free visit.
