Cleburne Cafeteria was recommended by some friends and we were surprised how right they were. The food was excellent and we have been back several times. The portions are so large that a takeout container is a must unless you can share with someone else. We buy an entree (meat), a potato, a salad and a desert and the total bill is about $16. and we are both full when we are done. Excellent service and a wide variety. The only disapointment ever here was their roast beef.

Amazing food, great taste, good service.
Wide selection of food. Love the kale salad..........I could eat here every day. Watch out for the elderly people for their early bird dinner.

Well the Cleburne is the place! Family owned, fresh farm to table food. Not familiar with a cafeteria or only been to that so-so franchise one? This is like a gorgeous buffet with presentation lifting it above a sit down restaurant. Get a tray and get in line. Salads are up first. At least 10 different kinds including fresh fruit salads, deviled eggs, veggie salads (a vegan heaven). Next comes entrees with a dozen choices including different meats, poultry, seafood fried, grilled, baked, broiled you name it they have it. Next are the veggies. Lot and lots of veggies. This must be where The Veggie Tales got its inspiration. Just to name a few of my favorites are huge fresh green Lima beans, asparagus, sweet corn, giant orange carrots, sweet potatoes, all kinds of veggie casseroles, delicious Mac and Cheese( the real kind!). We are talking garden veggies here. Then comes the breads, corn bread, yeast rolls, garlic bread. Save room those homemade I mean family HOMEMADe desserts pies, cakes, tapioca, bread pudding just everything imaginable. You will need a take home container as portions are huge. Balloons, coloring books, etc for the kids. This is the place when the food has to be made fresh. It is one of a kind. It's like eating straight from the garden. Red river, red river I dare you over. Once you come it will be the go to place for guests and family. Beautiful, clean, sparkling dining area.

My Houstonian friend suggested, who happened to be in town, suggested we try this restaurant. Being new to Houston, she said that this was an institution and a 'must try'....she was not wrong. From the moment you walk in, it's fantastic! No fancy seating, reservations, etc. Just DELICIOUS food, in a cafeteria setting. A little bit like dim sum, you pay only for the plates that you order....so load up, or not. Everything, absolutely everything I ordered was scrumptious! And, my two friends cleaned their plates as well. There is ample parking, so no worries there. It is apparently closed on Saturdays, so beware!

The family that started this is Greek, and there are some wonderful family photos on the walls, which really made it culturally so much more of an enriching experience. It's also frequented by the local Greek Diocese, which was neat to see.

If you're in Houston for more than a week, it is well worth it. It's just off the 59, one exit up from Kirby.

Went here with a work colleague and was blown away. This is home coking at its best. There is so much to choose from that it is a bit overwhelming. I had the turkey and it was delicious. The pumpkin pie was so good I wish I had taken an extra pierce home. Got to meet the owner and he is a great guy. Excellent place!
