“Great steaks, high end and expensive”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

Had a very good meal here, this is definitely a higher end restaurant. Lots of business types at this restaurant so expect to dress up. Unless you are definitely in the mood for steak though, I would recommend the other 'papa' restaurants for the variety of food and price.

“There are better steaks to be had and the service does not match the price point”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

The ambiance here is just fine but we have never had an outstanding steak or exemplary service here. The steaks are better than average and the service has always been lacking to adequate. We have been to other steakhouses with finer steaks and better service. We will return here now and then hoping the ball is knocked out of the park but we always leave here with something left desired. I used to be of the impression that this is and always has been the premier steakhouse in Houston. I figured out along the way that is just not the case.

“Prime Beef”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

Overall the experience was superb. My sons consumed the 32oz bone-in sirloin which was cooked perfectly. My small filet was just the right size. The drinks were outstanding, and the service was exemplary. The only drawback was the bacon wrapped scallops. They were WAY over cooked. Preparation of this dish should be seriously reconsidered.

“Good not great”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

Really good dinning experience overall but the steak itself was a little disappointing. My wife and I split two apps, Deviled Eggs and Turtle Soup. Deviled eggs were outstanding, Turtle soup was good too. We had the 18 oz 35 day aged Rib-eye and both the mushrooms and the crab mac and cheese. Mushrooms were incredible, Mac and cheese was good, the steak lacked flavor and texture. Dessert was Key Lime pie, and it was the best I have had, it was delicious. The portions were huge so this was way more that enough food for both of us. Service was good as well.

“Pappas is a chain and tastes like it”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

They are a chain of restaurants in Houston. Pleasing all they please few. I cannot recommend anything on the menu, as chains are known to have identical recipes. More does not mean better. The service could make them stand out, but it does not deliver there. It is crowded because it is popular because it is known. But that does not mean it is a great restaurant.
