“I'll be back!”

Full information here: I enjoy Glenwood so much that I joined a group that gives tours. In flat, really flat Houston it's good to find a place that offers topographic relief. Added to the undulating grounds is really fine landscaping dating from 140 years ago. Bicycle riders and picnickers are welcomed by such famous Houstonians as Anson Jones, Howard Hughes and Glenn McCarthy. Plan on multiple visits - you can't see everything the first time.

“One of the most beautiful and peaceful parks in Houston”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2013

I know it sounds morbid but it is actually very beautiful and I suggest that you take a guided tour. Howard Hughes is buried here as well as many well known Houstonians dated back to the civil war.

“Real tranquility‎”

Sometimes the small stuff is the good stuff—hidden away in Houston is the beautiful Glenwood historic cemetery. The grounds are the resting place for notable Texan residents including my favorite; Howard Hughes and Gene Tierney (actress). The landscape and statuary artwork at the cemetery is wonderful; it almost feels like a park in certain area and a place to have a picnic. I recommend parking the car and take a walk to take it in. The friendly ground keepers helped us out to the find Hughes plot, but you can always ask the main office.

“Nice program for an afternoon....”

Interesting stories and beautiful landscape and trees located on the bank of Buffalo Bayou. Many known Houstonians are buried there, as well as Howard Hughes who died on a flight from Acapulco to Houston.

“Historic”

There are lots of famous people in this cemetery. The winding paths and trees are very picturesque. I recommend this for people who are interested in cemeteries and/or history.
